No, it's not just you, and I'm not that far away from having been a kid... I still enjoy Christmas, just not at all in the same way. It's kind of sad, really. I can't really pinpoint what it is exactly, but it certainly doesn't help that it starts earlier and earlier every year -the stores put up Christmas decorations in the middle of October, everyone who can sing passably try to sell Christmas records from the start of October and there's too much going on to really enjoy it all. I guess it's just the commercialism that annoys me.

Actually, I find it depends on the Christmas for me. Hypothetically speaking, I have vacation AND go home at Christmas, so Christmas is still a wonderful season for me, just not in the same way it was as a kid. I just enjoy the whole season instead of the days. I love visiting with the family etc, but I have time to do all this since I'm off for more or less the whole season. If I had to work, even if I were in the States, it would be different, I'm sure. Maybe that's the crux of the matter. We had time to enjoy it as kids. (We were probably also greedier, but shhhh!)

Even if I don't go home, I still like the whole Christmas season, but then I still have vacation. Those years I just hate Christmas Eve/Day since I am alone.

You know what, you're right. The older you get the more it becomes just another day, albeit one stuffed full of loaded emotional baggage.

The only way it becomes fun again is if you have your own children, because then you get excited because of their excitement, wanting to see their reactions and then again recconnecting with the kid in you remembering your own reactions to similar things. And THEN they become teenagers, and the baggage begins again ;p
