So today was not the best day of my life. Not the worst, mind you, but definitely leaving something to be desired. It started when I found out that one of my best friends from high school has become a Mormon. He used to be a Methodist. I'm still not sure how one goes from Methodism to Mormonism. All of my relatives on my dad's side are Mormon, and while I don't necessarily agree with them on a lot of topics, I don't think that that's really a product of their faith. Being Mormon isn't a bad thing--it's just different. The services and some of the guidelines for behavior are different, but the core belief in Jesus is the same.

I am definitely not an expert in the subject, being that religion is not really dinner conversation when we're in Utah with them, but I can call them up if you have any questions.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I've done enough research on Mormonism to last me a lifetime. At least I now understand what he's talking about.

My beef with Mormonism is that some of its core doctrines are racist. I also have a problem when people call it a Christian denomination; Mormonism was founded by a human being. Assuming that Christians believe the Bible's true, then they'd also believe it when it says there will be no new revelations. Joseph Smith must have missed that one.
