I just posted this to
wrath_of_mars's journal, but I've decided to post it here, too.
I'm sure I'm just being a wench and a drama queen, but I just don't care anymore. If that's all I am, a drama queen, then I fucking embrace the title.
Anyways. Onto different subjects.
seenthetwilight (6:38:45 PM): I don't think I've ever seen anything more disgusting than what I saw at Taco Bell tonight.
Stephanie (6:38:52 PM): what?
seenthetwilight (6:38:53 PM): And I don't think I will EVER see anything more disgusting
seenthetwilight (6:39:20 PM): Okay, so my mom and I were eating dinner, and we saw a family come in. Two parents, two little girls.
seenthetwilight (6:39:27 PM): We looked at their van, and there was a little boy in there.
seenthetwilight (6:39:49 PM): The car was not on, so that meant there was no air conditioning in that van.
seenthetwilight (6:39:53 PM): van* was not on
seenthetwilight (6:39:59 PM): And all the windows were rolled up.
seenthetwilight (6:40:11 PM): The heat index is a hundred and seven degrees.
Stephanie (6:40:15 PM): o.o
Stephanie (6:40:45 PM): evil parents
seenthetwilight (6:40:48 PM): So I was thinking, "Okay, maybe they're getting their food to go and he wanted to stay in the van." Yanno, trying to think positively.
Stephanie (6:41:00 PM): yeah
seenthetwilight (6:41:20 PM): No, they sat down with their food.
seenthetwilight (6:41:50 PM): After about fifteen minutes the mom went out to get him and he appeared to be crying as she got him out of the van, and she drug him into Taco Bell.
seenthetwilight (6:42:01 PM): dragged*
seenthetwilight (6:42:04 PM): I cannot type tonight
seenthetwilight (6:42:07 PM): Anyways
seenthetwilight (6:42:28 PM): His parents gave him all of a bag of chips for dinner.
seenthetwilight (6:42:48 PM): Meanwhile, those two little girls, they were treating them like princesses.
seenthetwilight (6:43:05 PM): They got whatever they wanted to eat, anything they wanted.
seenthetwilight (6:43:50 PM): When the little boy said he was still hungry after he finished his chips, his parents were like "You want more? After everything we've done for you, it's not enough? With as bad as you were, you're lucky to get that."
seenthetwilight (6:44:40 PM): So I'm thinking, maybe he just misbehaved a little bit or something.. and I completely understand disciplining your kids when they misbehave.. you have to discipline them..
seenthetwilight (6:45:25 PM): But keeping a small child [this boy couldn't have been more than seven or eight] in a hot van with no air conditioning or windows rolled down in a heat index of 107 for fifteen minutes, and then only giving the boy a bag of chips for dinner, and reprimanding him when he says he's still hungry?
seenthetwilight (6:45:27 PM): That's bordering on abuse.
Stephanie (6:45:48 PM): yeah..that's some fucked up parents.
seenthetwilight (6:46:16 PM): And treating his sisters like princesses? I'm sorry, but that's just fucking him up even more. If they're being treated like princesses, he should be treated like a prince.
Stephanie (6:46:36 PM): yeah
Stephanie (6:46:46 PM): I take it this will appear in you LJ?
Stephanie (6:46:52 PM): *'re
seenthetwilight (6:47:15 PM): I don't know yet
Stephanie (6:47:21 PM): hmm
seenthetwilight (6:47:27 PM): 'Cos I don't know if I'm over reacting.
seenthetwilight (6:47:34 PM): You know me, I tend to over react.
But you know what? I don't think I'm over reacting. I realize there's nothing I can do about what I saw tonight, but honestly.. I can still be disgusted by it. And, as cheesy and cliche as this is, I can still swear that if, God forbid, I ever have kids, that isn't gonna happen to them. Because that boy could have died. DIED.
Oooh and now I'm disgusted by myself as I think of how I could have told his parents off. I mean, granted, it probably wouldn't have made much difference, but damnit, I could have told them off, and I didn't. I just left.
Hindsight is 20/20, though, right?
