Akhmatova... i love Akhmatova. and i am very angry that nobody can translate her, or Pushkin for that matter, well enough to carry through the tone and the full meaning. i say we need to get down to it and propose our own translation, french english and which ever else language.
your english is getting funny. no mistakes, but it sounds like french- sentence structure and all. the same thing happened to me in the summer, when i was in Moscow.
i am mildly jelous of you, the good kind of jelousy. i really want to be reading Akhmatova in france and going to contemporary art museums

I have decided that translating poetry is impossible, you cant produce that same rhythm, and keep the same meaning. I'm reading Baudelaire in French class, and I read the translated versions along with the french, and it sounds so ridiculous, and theres no rhythm, it loses everything.
ya, for french sentence structure! thats funny, because i totally didnt realise at all.
well i am jealous of your patriotism to Moscow; i have lived too long out of Russia to feel attached, and I dont feel attached to Canada either= so identity crisis.
i never know what to say when i get asked where i'm from; I always give different answers, same thing for my name, its Ola or Olia or Olga or... maybe i should convert to french and go by Aulie :p
