June 4, 2010 Wonder Girls & 2PM Concert Fan Report At Warner Theatre

Jun 15, 2010 18:38

This is just my fan report of the entire concert. Included 2PM and my annoying commentary. Sorry. It's very long. Enjoy! I hope you get a good idea of what happened at the concert.

Before the Concert
When we got there we found there was a long line to enter the theatre which rounded the corner. The hardest part of the whole experience was actually trying to find the end of the line! There were many Koreans there mostly girls some guys. When we were walking by them they just gave us a weird stare. Very creepy, the Wonder Girls aren’t just a Koreans only group people! There were some white people and a few African Americans there. Surprisingly it was a long line but short wait moved and very quickly. We had to get our tickets checked 3 times. Since we had upper balcony seats we had to go up the staircase to balcony. That took a long time, people moved at a snail’s pace!

While we were waiting get to our seats we heard screaming we were wondering if the concert had started already. But it was just the Wonder Girls World Tour Logo on the TV that appeared. There was still 30 minutes before it started. We also had to wait to be escorted to our seats. Our seats weren’t all that great but that’s what we get waiting. If we bought them earlier we would probably have better ones. At least we had a good view of the stage.

The crowd was very anxious and restless for the concert to begin. People started screaming even when they were just testing the lights. The audience was interesting as well. Mostly Koreans speaking Korean but there were few other different people too. Some people made t-shirts we wanted to make some too but because of school we weren’t able too. I felt that most of the girls were only here for 2PM. I felt bad people this is a WONDER GIRLS CONCERT! 2PM is just a special guest only an OPENING ACT! We saw two girls with t-shirts saying “Nichkhun is my hubby” and I think “Wooyoung is my hubby.” I rolled my eyes you wish girls.  Our seats were near this annoying group of girls probably middle schoolers who decided to sit on the railings or stand on the step. Their heads got in most of my pictures and videos! Argh! Next to my friend was this interesting African American woman who was a huge fan of kpop, very interesting. She and my friend talked a couple times throughout the concert. She even knew more songs and dances then we did! The people behind us were also not Korean and kpop fans. There was also a man going around and filming all the fans. Maybe he was the camera man for the documentary the girls are having about their experience in the U.S? Either way people were really excited when he came by. Our section was probably the loudest and when he came by we all started screaming and shouting. Too bad my friend didn’t think of showing her poster for the Wonder Girls and 2PM. She forgot and then he soon left.  We were also told we couldn’t take pictures or videos once the concert started or they would kick us out.

Beginning of Concert- 2PM Parts
Very close to 8pm not sure what time the concert started exactly the lights started to dim and turn off. People started screaming and cameras all came on and started recording. Like 90% of the crowd recorded if not all most of the concert. There was no way they could kick us all out so they stopped caring and everyone screamed their heads out when 2PM came out.  I thought I was going to go deaf by the end of the concert.  We also had to stand in order to see.

The first song they performed was their new song “Without You.” They wore tight black shirts with black pants that had glow in the dark things on them. They also had headbands that were white. They looked great but sadly Khun’s hair and Junho’s hair colors were still ugly colors. They danced and sang amazingly. I was amazed at their performance. I tried to take pictures but from where I was sitting I wasn’t able to zoom in close enough to take good pictures. The bright moving lights made it impossible to take good ones as well as the annoying girls in front of us. I don’t even like Without You much but they were so amazing I started liking the song soon after.

Then the boys took a short break and welcomed everyone. At this point Taecyeon I believe said “Sup DC?” The crowd screamed so loud he chuckled. Taecyeon and Nickhun really did most of the talking with Junho being cute and trying to say things here and there. Khun and Taec introduced the members each one by one and each member said something in return. I couldn’t hear at all what the others may have said since the crowd screamed everytime 2pm did anything. Chansung looked really tired but he just got out of the hospital a few days ago so I can’t blame him.  They were really sweet and mentioned Junsu saying he couldn’t be here. Everyone screamed for Junsu. They looked really excited and probably a bit shocked since like 95% of the seats were filled.

Then they introduced and performed the next song “Heartbeat.” I hate this song so much. I hate the song but I loved the performance. Guess you can’t hate anything if its performed in front of you so awesomely. I swear I heard the most screams in this performance when Khun started singing. It was great. They even did the pyramid move perfectly! At the end Wooyoung did the last flip and “died.”

Next they had another water break. They probably really needed it since heartbeat is very exhausting.  The third song was Again & Again. Now whenever they do old songs (10 out 10, Again & Again and I Hate You) I can’t help but miss Jay. Although Junsu was missing too without Jay I feel like the formation in Again & Again just feels a little incomplete even though I know he is never coming back. Back to the performance, the audience knew this song the best and sang along with it. Chansung and Taec’s raps were freaking amazing!

The 4th song they performed was I Hate You. I love this song so much.  It also was the last song they had previously performed with Jay. And they performed so well.  2PM are amazing performers they really know how to put on a show! Audience knew this song as well too. The “Rainism” like move earned the most screams from the crowd. And Taec was so cool with his rap, too bad he didn’t have sunglasses to complete it.

The last song they performed was 10 out of 10. This song definitely had the most energy. There were flips here and there not that many. Junho covered Jay’s parts in chorus.  This is actually my favorite 2PM song because it’s so fun and exciting. They need some more cheerful fun songs like this or Open Happiness. I’m tired of sad 2PM and songs about girls being unfaithful. Let’s move onto the happy songs JYPE. This song also had the most audience interaction since everyone was doing the 10 out of 10 move. I just loved Khun’s la la la part.  Taec got Jay’s rap which I feel Jay did it better no offence Taec.  Chansung surprised all by doing a sort of flying kick flip in the air although he didn’t look completely well. And this song is just not complete without the naughty antics the boys did like butt smacking each other.  XD

After this song was over it was time to say goodbye to 2PM. The audience including my friends, sister and I were reluctant to see them go. They said they hoped to see us all again and that they will be holding a concert in Korea soon. They bowed and said their final goodbyes and thanks. This was the last time we saw 2PM in this concert. They didn’t come out anytime after this. I would like to say Thank You 2PM for your amazing performances. You guys were fantastic! I’m glad I got to see you all. Best 15 minutes of my life!

Wonder Girls
Next came the main attraction my favorite girl group the Wonder Girls. I love these girls so much. I admit I became more interested in them once they had come to the U.S but when I looked them up and learned more about these girls the more I loved them more and more. While 2PM was great and all, Wonder Girls were on fire! There was an intro video which introduced all the girls I wish I had recorded the whole thing but once it started I seemed to have forgotten how to use my camera. The video showed a silhouette of each girl dancing with their name. Then once the video was over the curtain covering the girls fell and the girls appeared. They looked so beautiful all of them. Yubin dyed her hair a more fiery red and it fell just on her shoulders. Sunye had her hair tied up. Sohee had her hair down and it looked so shiny and silky. Lim had her hair in a ponytail looking very cute. While Ye-eun my bias looked like a goddess with her hair wavy and down.

The first song was “I Wanna” sung in Korean. This song was so upbeat and energetic and was a perfect way to start the concert. The girls were so amazingly good with their moves spot on and so much energy. The audience was very excited and thrilled. Many cameras were out recording it. Next song was “Goodbye” also sung in Korean.  The beat was very catchy and exciting like the other song. The excitement built up even more with these two catchy songs. Then came an English song the Pussycat Dolls “Don’t cha.” I was a little surprised I wasn’t expecting this song. The girls executed it perfectly and nailed it.

After that song I believe came “So Hot.” Although I remember the concert I don’t remember all the details. I can’t remember if the welcome and talk came before “So Hot” or after.  But any way when “So Hot” started my friend and I sang along with the whole song although neither of us can really sing! The girls were so fabulous and their transitions throughout the whole show were done so well.

Then the girls had a welcome and talking segment where they introduced themselves and welcomed us to the show. They were so excited I could tell seeing the large turnout at the show.  Their English has really come a long way and very clear and understandable. When they started talking I felt the shock that I was really truly here coming to me. After seeing the girls on TV and the internet and hoping one day to see them live seemed impossible. It was hard to believe that Wonder Girls were right there in the same room performing for all of us!  They were so cute and thanked us for coming. They said we were their first audience in their headlining tour and were so happy while saying it.

While the girls were talking chairs came in behind them. Then they started the next song the “Nobody Rainstone remix.” Besides the original version this is my favorite version of Nobody.  The girls danced while singing and looked very sexy while doing it. I’m sure boys in the crowd were really enjoying it. When Yubin started rapping the audience screamed really loud.  Nissa and I sang long again so did some of the crowd with them.

The next song was a slower more R&B song called “This Time.” The song was sung mostly in Korean but the beginning of the song was in English. This song is very beautiful and amazing but it’s virtually unknown to most kpop songs. Only few people in the audience actually knew this song. It’s a shame the song should have been promoted but it never was. After all the exciting dance songs it was nice to hear a slower smoother song.

Following “This Time” was a short talk and then the beginning of the solo stages.  First up was Woo Hye Lim. She started her solo asking us “We know all about the wonder girls. The leader Sun, the go getter Yenny, the cool one Yubin and the chic one Sohee but me the newest member.  What chu know about me?” From that line I knew her solo was going to be Lil Mama’s “My Lipgloss.” And sure enough it was. I had seen Lim perform it on Win Win but she didn’t perform the full song at that time. But this time she performed most of it. She performed very well. I was very impressed. She had little swagger in her making the performance all the more enjoyable. She did look a little nervous but unlike all the other girls Lim had the least experience.   Throughout the rest of the concert Lim was so adorable. I can’t understand why anyone would hate her. She works so hard and everyone always looks at her as if she is trying to take Sun Mi’s place. We all know that will never happen. Because Lim is Lim and Sun Mi is Sun Mi. But just because Sun Mi isn’t here anymore doesn’t give the reason to hate Lim without giving her a chance.  After Sun Mi’s departure Lim had to learn 2 years of choreography and lyrics in less than 3 months. That’s very little time but yet she did it. Hopefully in the future she will get more recognition and more fans she truly deserves it.

Performing after Lim was everyone’s favorite female rapper Kim Yubin.  The two most popular members I feel at the DC Concert were Sohee and Yubin. Those two definitely earned the most cheers from the crowd. Yubin wore an oversized t-shirt but it looked great on her and performed Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow.” I swear I hate this song with so much passion. For me the song is very mediocre and annoying with lyrics that make no sense what so ever! But yet it was ridiculously popular. Although I hate this song again I found myself loving the performance. Yubin was so fierce tearing up the stage with her amazing dance moves and presence. She commanded a lot of attention especially with her flipping as she danced and was so amazing I was dumbstruck by it. I wish I could have recorded the whole thing but I had to save some footage for the other songs. So amazing Yubin great job!

Next came my Wonder Girls Bias Park Ye-eun. She sang Duffy’s “Mercy” and man was she on fire! Ye-eun is probably one of the most under rated kpop female idols ever. Everyone recognizes Sun Ye’s voice, Yubin’s rapping  and Sohee’s cuteness but Ye-eun is always underappreciated especially in Korea where Sun Ye and Sohee are the home favorites. I love her so much. She is so charming and has this amazing stage presence. She truly was a goddess that night with her strong stage presence, amazing voice and she even tried to get the audience involved. I was so impressed by her she literally took my breath away at how amazing she was and phenomenal her performance was. Her English excluding Lim is definitely the best and she had very clear pronunciation of the words in the song along with the right emphasis on each one. Ye-eun you are so fabulous don’t listen to haters you are just as amazing as the others! I hope to see you again someday hopefully in person!

After that was our cute mandoo Ahn Sohee who performed Beyoncé’s hit song “Single Ladies.” Sohee has performed this song before many times on countless shows but after performing it so many times on show I’m sure she was tired of it. But she definitely brought over 100% in her performance that night. Sohee might not be the strongest singer in fact she has a very weak voice but Sohee makes up for this in her dancing. She knows her weaknesses and strengths and tries to show her best in every performance. She has a lot of charisma and charm that shines so bright when she is on stage or photoshoots but in variety shows she seems rather expressionless and blank but that’s just her charm. She is one of the shyest members and very quiet rather introverted and doesn’t show many emotions on her face but on stage she is quite the opposite outgoing, expressive and full of charisma and charm. I wasn’t really a fan of her when I first saw her but over time I learned to like her and now love her. Single Ladies is very difficult song to perform with many complicated dance moves but Sohee nailed it. The whole time though I couldn’t help but think of Kim Heechul. Might be the SoHeechul shipper in me but I think Heechul would have had a heart attack if he was in the audience that night. XD Love you Sohee never change!

Last but definitely not least was Leader Min Sun Ye’s turn. She performed Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.”I was really impressed with her song choice because the song really suited her voice. I love Sun ye so much. She is so dedicated her group, singing and performing. What I love the most about her is she never disappoints. She always brings her game face and shows various sides of herself through concerts, performances and variety shows from her seriousness and dedication on stage to her silly dorky side.  I was rather far away from the stage but when I went and looked at fancams I noticed she even had a camera as a prop. That was great touch. Sun Ye didn’t just exhibit her flawless vocals in her solo but also her brilliant dancing skills. She twirled and moved around with such excellence and confidence that I was taken back. She is an amazing person, performer and leader. I can’t imagine what the Wonder Girls would be like without her.

Then the rest of the girls came out wearing the same white and red outfit Sun Ye was wearing.  They performed “survivor” by Destiny’s Child. A few days ago I remembered thinking what would it be like if Wonder Girls performed this song. They performed this song very well with many twists and turns. Using their red skirts as part of the dance. I’m sure Destiny’s Child would be proud.

Soon after the girls ditched the skirts and revealed pretty white dresses which they were wearing underneath. The song they were performing next was “Saying I Love You.” This song was composed by our very own Park Ye-eun. During this song she played the piano while the other girls smiled and sang along. Above the girls were confetti or maybe it was something else that was falling from above. The white dresses were very pretty and suited the girls but Sun Ye’s and Lim’s I thought could be much better. The girls were so sweet throughout the song moving their hands back and forth to get the audience involved as well. And the best part was probably Yubin’s heart she made directed at fans. This song was truly dedicated to the fans and the girls did a fantastic job conveying their thanks and love to us.

Next song was “Stickwitu” by the Pussy Cat Dolls. This song was also very slow and ballad like but unlike the other songs they had sung this song had sing along lyrics in the background. I have never heard this song until Wonder Girl’s concert but it was very beautiful. I was glad they chose to perform it.  They moved their arms back and forth to get the audience interested in the song as well. The song was very beautiful and many people were able to sing a long with them. Especially me and my bad singing. Following that was “One Night Only.” Again it was another ballad song. I don’t really remember this song very well.

Then the girls went away backstage and the video for 2 Different Tears came on. I’ve already seen the video before but it was nice to see it again. JYP, I was surprised didn’t pop up at all during the concert. The beginning of the video always makes me laugh “He looks like a Pikachu. And likes dancing with sexy ladies.” Lol what? I’ve definitely never met a person like that before.

Next came Wonder Girls Debut U.S song “Nobody.”  This song was promoted by the girls continuously for two years in a row first in Korean, then English and most recently Chinese.  Although hearing this song many times can be very annoying I still enjoy this song a lot. Definitely translated the best into English.  They performed so well with lots of energy even though they would probably be exhausted by now after performing so many songs. This song was performed so flawless it was amazing to see live.

Next was the fun and catchy song “Tell Me.” This song was a dance along song and the audience was able to dance with the girls by following the dancer in the background. I admit I danced to it. Tell me is really fun to dance to. I can tell why Super Junior likes it a lot as well. Even the stiff guy in front of us was somewhat dancing to it. Wonder Girls were having so much fun who could say no to them.

I know that there was a Wonder Girls success in the US video but I’m not sure when exactly they showed it to us in the concert. I believe it was before they performed 2 Different Tears.  While I was watching the video I realized just how successful and the accomplishments Wonder Girls have made. They definitely are the most successful Asian artist to crossover so far. What ever happened to BoA, Utada  & Se7en? Those people just disappeared when they were in the U.S. Very little promotions. Then again none of those artists were that dedicated in succeeding here. JYP sure has his connections. Watching that video made me realized just how much the girls have been through. Breaking through the U.S market is surely no easy task. They are all so young. Just imagining it leaving your family, moving to another country where you don’t even speak the language, starting all over from scratch, English lessons, dealing with anti fans and being so far away from other artists. And on top of all of this losing a valuable member. I can’t even fathom all the pain and troubles they have gone through just to get here. I’m so proud of them.  Although I can’t guarantee that they will be a big success here since it can take years for artists to break through here I’m still glad they have tried. The little successes they have achieved here may not seem like much but definitely mean the world to the girls. I wish them all the luck in the future and how ever long I can I will support them. I want them to continue to work in the U.S and be around so I can see them. Good luck girls I will always stand by you.

The last song that was sung was “2 Different Tears.” I was waiting for this song since I’ve seen the girls perform it in Korea. Ye-eun started the song and was very powerful on stage not only during this song but throughout the whole concert.  The girls again showed no signs of being tired and performed so well I was amazed. When Yubin started rapping the screaming increased even more. The African American lady next us started dancing along although she had danced to other Wonder Girl’s songs before. She was really good. We also sang along as well even though none of us can sing!

After the song was over so was the concert. The girls said goodbye. They thanked us once again for coming and supporting them. They wished that in the future we would continue to support them and maybe we will meet again. And they all held hands together and bowed just like all the other Asian artists do at the end of their concerts in gratitude. It’s definitely the most respectful way of saying goodbye.

I was sad to say goodbye and didn’t want to leave. The concert was very short only about 1 hour and a half. I was hoping it would be much longer. But we had to leave soon anyway. My dad picked us up. We then headed to buy concert goods. We wanted to buy goods in the beginning but were worried that we would miss the concert. The line was rather long but we decided on black concert tee shirts with the cities Wonder Girls were visiting on their tour that we had seen the girls in front of us wearing. We each bought our own so that way we would have a souvenir of this fantastic night. The shirts weren’t cheap. $30 for one and all together it was $120! That’s a lot of money never spent that much before. We were surprised and so was the guy behind us. Lol.

Let’s Not Forget Who We Didn’t Get to SeeSun Mi
I miss you so much. All Wonderfuls do too. You are so sweet and a little strange at times but charming. I was devastated when I learned that you would be leaving. I understand why you left. You must have felt very lonely and sad being so far away from home. But I never expected you to leave. I wish us; U.S fans could have done more to make you feel welcome. We never knew how much pain you felt. I’m sorry Sun Mi. I wish you all the luck in the world and will continue supporting you no matter what you pursue. You will always be a Wonder Girl!

Park Jaebeom
Jaebeom it’s been almost a year since you left. It feels likeit was just yesturday. It all happened so fast one day you were celebrating 2pm’s one year anniversairy the next day you were stuck in a conspiracy. I didn’t think the issue would be so big that you would actually leave and never return as a part of 2PM. There has been so much confusion and many things remain unknown but you have worked so hard I’m glad you are moving on. It’s nice to see your smiling face again even after all that has happened. I will always see you as 2PM’s leader although I know you can never return. Without you it still feels like something is missing. I will support you and the other boys. Forever a Hottest and Jaywalker.

Kim Junsu
Although we didn’t get a chance to see you we still missed you. Amara was so sad when she found out she wasn’t going to see you. I wished you were there but we definitely don’t want that leg injury to get worse. I hope next time we will get to see you.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it!
