erin, we need to attach either something exceptionally large to the things you regularly lose, or something that beeps with a remote control. then we need to attach the remote control to something exceptionally large that you can't lose it too =)
i think i should design a special desk w/like 30 buttons on it, all of which trigger a transmitter to make one of 30 beeping-recievers to start beeping (naturally the beepers are attached to things like keys and backpacks and purses and whatever other fool things i/other people lose all the time.
you know they make something like that... it usually has only 4 or 5 buttons on it and hangs on the wall... you attach the little receivers which i beleive are color coded or something like that. They're around 75 dollars... think about how much you could get for one of those that had 30 buttons!
figures taht somebody already did it. o well, the company that should sell the 30 button one is a big battery company, those little recievers would all have to heave their own.
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of using a broadband wireless solution. If they can use 802.16 for wireless access, we can devise a device to attach to your key. Very much like a small wireless sensor. This sensor will transmit a signal using the 802.16 protocol. When the keys are missing, a receiver will pick up the signal and we can locate the keys. This will allow us to find your keys up to a very far distance away...not just in the house. We could also use a GPS system to attach a transmitter to the keys. This transmitter will transmit it's EXACT position to you once the keys are lost. This way we can utilize the expensive satellites that are floating around. Although this would not be as accurate.
