Hello to everyone. Today, I decided to check out the acad alumni exhibition sites, and I found one of the well known mural painters- http://www.metrodesigngroup.com/dougd.html.

When I did my mural, I was forced to use the projector and felt somewhat guilty that I was cheating.  This guy said that he among most painters he knows uses either a grid ( Read more... )

My suggestion for your write up would be to make sure it doesn't sound like something many other people would say. I think that's why people like reading my updates, I don't just describe my day, I go into details on events most people would find insignifcant.

They're going to be reading through quite a few applications, and likely won't be impressed with some cheesy crap like, "my inspiration was my grandmother, bless her soul, who would let me sit on her lap outside on the balcony and tell me stories about nature."

If your writing stands out too then they will see that your creativity isn't limited to just painting.

That's exactly what I mean, it's just a matter of putting things a certain way to impress the jury. I have no clue how I can write about myself and sell that to the jury without coming across as cheesy. Besides, I can't make it too detailed as I only have 500 words to work with. By the way, how many pages, typed and double spaced is that? two? Three?

Sigh. I'll post my statement sometime later and you can help me out if you like.

Btw, have you been getting any of my emails, I've sent like three so far and gotten no replies, or are you just too busy right now? I was just wondering if you even got them, if you haven't I can just resend them. Oaic.

well what i can think of is just pour your heart on the paper. That may be the best option to look at for now. just like writing a journal, telling your journal exactly how you felt whenever you painted something. It may be hard to impress them but what i beleive is that they are trying to see if you got enough feelings as well as soul into it. I mean an artist doesn't just create something just like that and say bam! its art!.. that is just a joke. Really something inspired them to make that speicific thing or drawing. Really maybe an emotion triggered it. There is so many things that can inspire you or help you be creative. I think that what maybe is what they are looking for. Someone who can tell people how they come up with this project and why or what made you create it.

i hope i am making sense there and there hehe.

ahh bed time haha

good luck!!!
