Title: Sticky
Pairing: Sho/Aiba
Rating: G
Summary: A brief meeting on a hot day.
Notes: Inspired by the new AU CM. Un-beta'd and short.

Aiba loves running. Sprinting through parks and streets, the scenery streaking past as he squints his eyes from the harsh sun light poking out from between the trees and buildings. He feels free, like nothing can touch him.

The breeze that tugs at his hair as he runs, whilst warm and doing nothing to cool him down, is strangely addictive. The sights he gets to see and the people he gets to meet are never redundant. He gets caught up in it. The feeling of moving.

Sho, on the other hand, couldn't think of anything worse. Just the thought of catching the train in such weather is enough to give him a panic attack, let alone willingly allowing yourself to run in it. Clothes sticking to you, socks rubbing uncomfortably and aching limbs. It's all too masochistic for his liking.

Work was tiring. The office was almost unbearable. Even with multiple fans blowing in every direction in each room, the whole building was a sea of weary men and women. It was a relief to escape it, until it became apparent that it was even hotter outside that is. He's literally at the point of dragging himself home with what little ounce of strength he has left.

No, Sho could definitely not see the appeal of running. Which is why he was struck dumb when someone happily whizzed past him towards the vending machine in the middle of the park.

He watches in amusement as the runner jumps up and down, drenching himself in water and shouting out words of excitement as he punches the air. Before realising that he's being watched that is and turning towards Sho with large eyes, blinking in confusion.

The young salaryman ducks his head in greeting, grinning widely. The man's high tension and spirit sparking a bit of energy in him that he thought had been fully drained by the weather already.

Aiba lets out a small puff of laughter and raises his hand in response. In too good of a mood to be even slightly embarrassed. He's about to dump the rest of the water over his head when he stops abruptly, the bottle held up at eye level and tipped ever so slightly to the side. He looks back to the man, clutching his brief case and jacket. It must be hell wearing a suit in such warm weather.

Aiba jogs lightly over to him. His limbs loose, almost jelly like, but pleasantly so.

“Here,” He holds out the bottle, just shy of pressing it into the other man's chest.

“Are you sure? You probably need it more than me,” Sho frowns, frankly a bit concerned. He doesn't want the runner to drop dead from dehydration.

“I'm fine,” Aiba smiles reassuringly, shaking the bottle invitingly.

“Thank you,” Sho isn't completely convinced, but he doesn't want to turn away the man's generosity, so accepts it after pushing the small tingle of worry to the back of his mind.

Aiba watches Sho gulp down the remaining water, the last few droplets just escaping the corner of his mouth as he pulls the bottle away. Up close he can just make out the small signs that the man must have been quietly suffering in the heat. A slight sheen of sweat, and just a hint of redness to his cheeks. Only noticeable if you get up close. To be expected of a young professional Aiba thinks, so composed.

Sho sighs contently and slumps his shoulders.

“Not going to lie, that was lovely,” Sho chuckles into his sleeve as he wipes his lips.

Aiba laughs, which Sho notes is slightly scratchy sounding, like he's still out of breath, “Pleasure to be of service.”

A small burst of wind blows a few discarded petals across the surface of the pavement. Sho watches as pink and white race each other around their feet. For the first time today he feels truly relaxed.

Aiba glances at his phone and purses his lips, “Right. I should get going.” He smiles warmly and pushes his damp fringe out of his eyes, “It was nice meeting you.”

“You too,” Sho watches Aiba stretch as he begins to walk away. He taps the plastic bottle against his chin in thought.

“Hey,” Sho shouts out before he can stop himself, his voice squeaking. Aiba pivots round on one foot, already hopping up and down to get his blood circulating for the run back.

“Be sure to take regular breaks, and keep drinking,” There's an edge to Sho's voice that makes Aiba's throat tight and finger tips prickle. It's the same sort of feeling he used to get when he'd talk to the pretty baker just a few shops down from his family restaurant. He laughs fondly, and salutes cheekily.

“Will do!” He flails his arms about in a wave before taking off. Already planning on taking the same route tomorrow.

Sho shakes his head in wonder, crushing the plastic bottle in his hand absentmindedly as he begins to amble on home on again. Maybe he'll bump into the runner again. Maybe he'll ask his name next time.
