Everything was grey: the sky, the ground and even the air flowing gently around him. He felt his clothes and hair ruffled by said air, but he saw no reason to open his eyes. It felt like he had been asleep for a very long time. This comfortable, cushioned world had been his home since...

Since...

Ciel's brow furrowed as he tried to recall when ( Read more... )

What his eyes would land on would be the sight of his demon butler, that faint, slightly amused, but familiar smile on his lips once again. Had Ciel's eyes been open naught a few minutes before, he might have caught sight of a strangely softer smile. But perhaps it would have been better that he had not-- Ciel would not have understood it.

"Welcome back, Young Master."

Sebastian's image was blurry at first, but then it took on a sharp clarity that Ciel had not expected. Staring at the demon for a long moment, the boy simply enjoyed the sensation of...

What should he call it? Warmth? Life? Whatever it was, the surge of it beating steadily within his veins quieted his shivering and allowed him to focus on other things. Or, rather, other beings.

"Sebastian,..." Ciel paused, looking around at the forest surrounding them, "I don't understand."

And he didn't. But, hopefully, the demon would explain. He didn't feel up to reminding him that he had promised to never lie to him, after all.

"You need not understand at the moment, Young Master. I will explain it all in due time. For the moment, we must make haste to depart from here. It is dangerous to stay here when you are still vulnerable."

The demon moved onto one knee, offering his arms questioningly, asking permission to lift his master into his arms.

Ciel couldn't say that he recognized where they were. Then again, knowing Sebastian's capabilities, they could be anywhere on Earth; though, if Ciel were to venture a guess, he would say that they were still in Europe...somewhere. Wrinkling his brow and trying to stretch out his strangely achy legs, the young Earl sighed deeply.

"You can inform me on what or who is chasing us on the way." he blinked at the offer before nodding slowly. His legs weren't going to be of much use. Besides, even if they were working properly, there was no way he could keep up with Sebastian.

Bowing before inescapable logic, he reached out and grasped Sebastian's arms.
