The same can be said of other civil rights movements; generally the racial equality movement wasn't striving to end the employee/employer dichotomy, but rather attempting to end the concept that the black many should always be the employee and the white man the employer.
It still seems like the ideal family structure is two parents with one at home. But a gender equality movement (in my opinion) should seek to make it so that we no longer notice the gender of the two parents when deciding which stays at home. In my family, each parent performs different chores, but which chore goes to which parent depends on individual preference. For instance, my Dad does the laundry and Mom does the gardening.
