Disclaimer: Fiction. Everything within this story never happened and is entirely untrue.
Author's notes: So I never really planned on adding anything to this fic (well, this 'verse now!), but I've had a few requests (
lycaness yours is coming!), so I took a quick breather from the myriad of other fics I am writing. It felt good to cross this one off my list! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it!
Jensen slung his backpack over his shoulder and stood up, the sounds of footsteps echoing around the hall as all the new students left. His new friend Tom walked beside him, chattering about the various things he’d enjoyed about class that week. Jensen wasn’t really listening. He was glad class was over for the day, and he was looking forward to getting home to Jared. He checked his watch. It was five o’clock; Jared ought to be home by now. The thought sent happy sparks through Jensen’s chest, warming his heart but not burning.
“Hey, Jensen?” Tom slapped him on the back as they exited the building, making Jensen jump a little.
“Yeah?”
“Me and my friends are having a party at my apartment tonight, celebrating making it through our first college week and everything. You up for it? Be a chance to get outta that dorm room, eh?”
Jensen grinned. “I d-don’t live in a dorm room, didn’t I tell you? And I can’t, sorry. My boyfriend’ll think I’m avoiding h-him.”
“Oh, okay,” said Tom, “well, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of other parties.”
Jensen didn’t have the heart to tell his friend that he was certainly not interested in partying. Too many people and not enough Jared. “Sure. Yeah. Other parties,” agreed Jensen, absent-mindedly.
Tom paused for a few moments. “So, a boyfriend, huh? Tell me about him?”
Jensen blushed a little as he and Tom sat down on the bench at the bus stop. “Uh, I’ve b-been with him since... high school. Senior Year. I love him.”
Tom grinned. “Wow. So, like, four years?”
Jensen grinned, his thoughts shifting to what he had planned for their anniversary this year. “Yep. Four years in a week.”
“What’s his name?”
“Jared.”
“You’ll have to introduce me sometime. Maybe he could come to a party with us.”
Jensen laughed lightly. He seriously doubted Jared had the time to party, what with all the papers he had to mark this term. “So, what about you? Got a g-girlfriend? Boyfriend?”
Tom shook his head. “Nope, I’m a free man,” he declared. “Makes college that much more fun.”
Jensen wasn’t too sure he agreed with that, thinking of Jared sitting at home waiting for him. He’d probably be hunched over papers in the study, or making dinner. Jensen’s heart swelled a little at the thought. “Maybe for you,” he conceded.
“Definitely for me. Anyway - I think that’s your bus coming. I gotta get going... set up for this party. See you Monday, okay?”
“Sure thing. See ya, Tom,” smiled Jensen. Tom patted Jensen on the shoulder and stood.
Tom was right. It was Jensen’s bus. Jensen sat towards the back, staring contentedly out the window and counting the number of stops they made until they arrived at Jensen’s. Jensen left the bus in a hurry, thanking the bus driver as he jumped off and ran down the street, his bag swinging frantically beside him. When he finally got to his and Jared’s house, formerly Chad and Jared’s house, he paused outside the door to catch his breath and attempt to look cool. It was easier said than done.
Jensen was stood outside the door for a few moments, trying to flatten the hair that had grown out way too much. He gave up after a few moments and opened the door. Inside, Jared was sitting at the table. Jensen bounded up to him, dropping his bag down beside him on the floor before he messed up Jared’s hair. Jared jumped and turned around before letting out a fake-growl. “Hey!” he cried, grabbing Jensen by the wrist and pulling him down for a kiss.
“Hey,” agreed Jensen, pulling back.
Jared chuckled. “My busy college boy is home for the weekend, huh?”
“Yep. You should be th-thanking me, too - I turned down a party invitation to hang out with your old ass.”
“Oh really?” Jared looked a little worried.
“Yeah. What’s w-wrong? C’mon, I know you aren’t that old -”
Jared shook his head. “I’m used to your woundin’ insults,” he winked, “but you should be getting out and havin’ fun. It’s what college is about, Jen. Don’t turn down things because of me.”
Jensen laughed. “C’mon, Jared, you know I’m not really one for p-partying or rocking and rolling. Whatever. You had dinner yet? I can make pasta?”
Jared smiled widely. “Sure, yeah. Pasta sounds great,” he said, pulling Jensen down for another kiss.
“Awesome.” Jensen licked his lips and rubbed Jared on the back a few times, enjoying the feeling of hard muscle beneath his fingers, before he wandered off into the kitchen. He glanced at the wall, up at a picture of them taken two years ago, as he pulled out the saucepan. It was taken at Jared’s parent’s place on their anniversary.
“Hey, Chad sent a postcard, too,” called Jared from the other room.
Jensen frowned. “The hell? He’s only in Virginia, isn’t he?”
“Yeah. But he still sent a postcard.”
Jensen rolled his eyes good-naturedly. “Freak,” he muttered, turning on the stove. Jensen glanced up at the picture again, this time unable to keep the grin off his face. This year’s anniversary - he already knew what he wanted to do for Jared. He had everything ready - a uniform, a camera and possibly a very big ruler hidden in a nook of the cupboard upstairs where Jared would never be able to fit.
It was totally time that Mr Padalecki touched up on his acting skills.
