I got my new birth certificate, copied it and sent the pdf to my immigration lawyer via email. She wrote back:

Heh, I'm still a bit conflicted over the whole process. It means committing to staying in the US for at least 5 more years. But at the small scale level, it's good. :)

my co-worker is french canadian and could probably translate it to. i used to speak french but mine is rather rusty now (read: non-existent).

congratulations :) does that mean we get to keep you around for a while?

There's still a major hurdle left, dependent on my employer, so it's not 100% sure by any means. But closer to sure. :)

I think I recall you telling me you work in a different building, but, the Emergency Room should have a list of hospital employees who can act as translators. If you can have a friend do the translation, having a coworker do it ought not to be a problem. Congrats, and good luck!
