I think there is a large swath between too matchy-matchy and completely clashing, at which things can be acceptable. And if this acceptable anywhere, at formal events I think it works best, whereas casual sweater/pants matching is EW.

It doesn't help that my man & I gravitate to most of the same colors (reds & blues), and often we end up cohesive by accident.

Heh, that was us on Saturday. :) But since I had on a white shirt with my vest and he had a red one with his vest I managed to convince him not to change. :)

I honestly think it depends on the outfits themselves. If it looks like they pick the matching ensembles at the local bridal/tux shop, then ew. If they are interesting outfits that happen to coordinate, then I think it looks great. Axel has often chosen his tie in order to make sure he doesn't clash with my dress. Looking good standing next to each other is nice.

i chose neutral for the "who cares?" factor. some folks do it well - others not so well.

Depends on the couple, the outfit, whether I wanted to skull fuck them before I even saw what they were wearing, etc...
