LJ ate my comment earlier. Thanks for posting these. :) Are you going back to sims 2 at any point? I did try sims 3, but... now it seems like such a major investment to learn everything (not to mention all the stuff packs).
I am still playing Sims 2, but of late I tend to play it just to relax. XD I do intend to finish up 'Tale of Two Women', even though it's been years since I started that . . . O_o
I've got more to put up - I'm archiving my old Sims 3 stories on LJ, since the S3Exchange has a pic limit. :p Next up is a doozy - The Fortress is . . . at least ten chapters long, if not longer.
It's a bit of an investment, yeah . . . but I think you could do just fine with the base game, Generations, and Pets. They continue basic function changes with each expansion, so changes like body hair and tattoos would be there. It does feel very different at times play wise, and yeah, it'd take some time to get fully comfy with how it works. It's enough like Sims 2 to completely throw you off at times. ^^;;
