the life of a teenager is a perpetual routine... just about given up.

off to SAT class, for what reason you may ask? so that i will conform with the system and go to college.

looking forward to a 3-day weekend. probably wont do anything. hope to, though.

Don't gimme that "conform to the system crap". If you're pissed about taking a class that will take away your free time, then I totally agree with you. But the truth of the matter is, is that if you don't get a decent score on the SAT, then you're gonna go to a crappy college which will probably lead to a crappy job. Stop trying to be cool by saying "I will not conform". The "system" is keeping you alive man! So conform to my system and shut the hell up.

i think what jony was saying was that it's ridiculous that so much weight should be put on SAT scores in the first place. i got a more than decent score on the SAT and i'm still going to a crappy college. eventually, i'll get a crappy job. and what's wrong with that? there's a hell of a lot more out there than college and a good career. the "system" is doing us more harm than it is good.

OK, fine. I'll agree to most of what you said. But how in God's name does this "system" (please define, 'cause I'm not exactly sure) do us any harm at all?

by system i meant the standards by which success is judged by society. while some people will say, 'hey, we all have our own definition of success,' it's indeniable that there is a certain definition that covers most peoples views of success. (ie. good college, good job, good family, good money)
the truth is, we SHOULD all have our own definition of success, but for the most part, we just strive towards goals that are set by others (parents, teachers, etc)
if we live to please others, if we live just attempting to look good in the eyes of our peers, there's a good chance we're wasting our lives.
