Ballet Trockadero presents: Don Quixote

It's impressive. "Fouettes" (those spinnings that the ballerina does in this scene) are incredibly hard to do and she... I mean, he does beautifully.

Wow, he's good!! Really beautifully performed! I guess that compared to a woman he's less "airy" and actually seems like he has a better balance, but the technique was great nonetheless....well, not that I'm a dance expert or anything of course. But I do like classical dancing, I wish there were more shows here.

I'm not expert too but I think he is more solid and more athletic (well, men have more muscles strenght and the foutettes demand a lot of strenght). I've seen several ballerinas doing this solo, some of them are brilliant (try to see the Bolshoi doing this same scene and you'll see what I'm talking about) but the girls seem to lose breath and have more hard time doing the fouettes. Maybe except for Yulia Makhalina (from Kirov) who makes a breathtaking Black Swan performance (available at youtube also) filled with fouettes. I'm her hugest fan, she is such an incredible bailarina!
But I love him. He is so graceful and looks so cute in tutus! ^_^

Dear husband, I found the dance scenes to show you.

This is the Bolshoi doing Don Quixote:

I think the male bailarino dance better than the Trockadero guy but the ballerina (who is awesome) loses the balance in the end of the fouettes. I also like the Trockadero's coreography variation better.

And this is the amazing Yulia Makhalina doing the Black Swan:

She makes PERFECT fouettes. She is the only one who can be compared with the Trocakedero's ballerina IMO.
Sorry I could not find a better video.

Wow, such awesome videos! Thank you for linking them to me!! I agree with what you say, men have stronger bodies than women, so they should be able to do the same routine more easily, and I agree he does seem like he's having an easier time performing the fouettes! But I like the female ballerina a lot too, she seems more agile and flexible...

And wow, the second video was brilliant too, she is so fierce as Odile!! I saw Swan Lake when I was in Russia, and I loved the show, and I know how hard that part is, because the dancer actually slipped a couple of times :(
