Through the grapevine I guess, I heard that a friend of mine had died while travelling and I've been thrown for a big loop, so I need to write this out and clear my head a little till the funeral on Thursday.

I remember meeting a few years back during the summer after her graduation, but I can't remember exactly why I ended up going there in the first place, hah. Strange how that works. We hung out a lot that summer before she left, walking and driving around, window shopping, and watching movies - just shmoozin' and having a good time. I remember going to Wayzata beach one day and sitting about, not doing much of anything, and she made a hemp toe ring for me. I miss that ring, hehe. It got a little grimey after a while, but I loved it when I had it.

One time we were out at Ridgedale lookin' around and picking up concert tickets when we heard from my mom that a tornado warning was in effect and that there was a big storm coming. We went outside with the intent of heading home, but the weather was worse than either of us could have imagined. I remember the wind picking up under the greenish sky and we both worried about being caught out on the road in a high-powered windstorm. So we drove over to Target and waited since Ridgedale was closed. We both called home and updated our parents, then walked around Target playing with electronics. She brought in a Bob Marley CD that I had burned for her and we put it in one of the display stereos so we could at least have some good music while we waited. Neither of us bought anything, but it wasn't like they could ask us to leave in that weather, so we were safe. After a while we were able to get going.

She was a great student, and my father was very fond of her. It was always funny to see her light up when she was able to come in and talk to my dad about what each of them was up to. I'll miss that summer, but I only regret that I don't have more memories of time spent with her. The last time we talked was before she left to study abroad, I feel awful that I didn't keep up with her.

Rest in peace and God bless, Meghan Sennott
