Am I Insane?

Jan 14, 2011 11:44

I was thinking about sanity today, mine and others, and decided after some musing that perhaps we're all as delusional as we need to be in order to live with ourselves. Some may be more insane than that, but really how can anyone be less?

Well, the clinically insane people are people who aren't insane enough in order to live with themselves.

Interesting thought. There's one old saying, not sure where it came from, that insanity is a way of coping with reality. Either way, I think Gnarls Barkley was right.

You're not the first person to think this. Check this out:

The basic premise is that people with depression have a more accurate perception of reality, such as understanding the illusion of control and certain biases.

That whole article is a bit sobering, actually.

You have to be maginally insane to survive in this crazy world. So much to deal with, a truly sane person would be driven to insanity in no time. :(
