Hey, folks. I've taken my first stab at an Avalon Code fanfic. Now available at 31_days and Fanfiction.net (and eventually DeviantArt).
Avalon Code - Spoiler Alert (Warning: does not contain actual spoilers)
Yumil had finished another day of roaming the Rhoan countryside with the Book of Prophecy, and decided to stop at his house to rest for the evening. He sat at his desk to read about the objects and monsters he had painstakingly Code Scanned, but wasn't pleased with the results.
"Man...I don't believe that we have to go around collecting pictures for a book that tells us we're all going to die anyway," he said.
Tia, who had been looking over his shoulder to examine the book herself, sat down next to him. "Now that you think about it," she said, "it is kinda depressing. If the world's going to end, then who will be around to read this book once it's finished?"
"Don't worry about it," said Rempo. "As long as you follow the instructions, you'll still have a world to save."
"I hope you're right," Yumil answered.
Rempo held up the chains binding his arms and said, "Hey, I'm not the one who wrote it. I just do as the book says."
"It's weird that a book would know this much about current and future events," said Tia.
"Yup...that's why it's the only one of its kind. If there were more than one of these things floating around, they could easily be abused for who-knows-what purpose."
Yumil sighed. "There's not much further you can go than the apocalypse."
"You humans can be so weird with your pessimism sometimes," Rempo grunted. "Don't think of it as the end...think of it as a new beginning. If the two of you manage to save the world, you'll be revered as heroes!"
"Yeah...I guess that would be nice. At least that way, Francesca and her brother wouldn't give us weird looks every time we walked down the street."
"Now you're talkin'! But don't get too excited too quickly. You look like you could use a bit of sleep."
"Don't be ridiculous," Yumil said with a yawn. "I could go on all...night..."
Before he knew it, Yumil's head rested gently on the open Book of Prophecy, right below the spot where he had bookmarked an outline for a sword. Tia shook her head and slowly removed the book from underneath him and replaced it with a soft pillow.
"Sure, Yumil, whatever you say," she whispered. "Good night."
She placed the book on the shelf near the opposite window, in a spot where she could easily access it in the morning. As she turned in to go to sleep, she made a mental note to sneak a peek at the pictures of Meenya's favorite doll before heading back out, hoping that the pleasant imagery would inspire her and Yumil to keep going.
