LotR Fic: Worth the Pain (1/2)

A/N: Some of you probably remember hearing me complain about a very difficult story I was working on. Well, I’ve finally finished it (after countless re-writings, including several pov-changes and various other nuisances :P). More than everything, this is a story about friendship and family. If you like Aragorn/Estel-Legolas and Legolas-Elladan/ ( Read more... )

Another gorgeous userpic :D

I want to say that it is interesting to see this role reversal, but that sounds far too clinical. You've written Legolas' demeanor so well from Aragorn's pain-filled POV that we can so perfectly understand how he is feeling, especially in that moment where he fleetingly does catch Aragorn's eye.

Looking forward to reading more!

Thank-you for sharing xXx

I really needed a userpic with a depairing Legolas, since he seems to be in that state quite often in my stories. *g*

I think the first time Aragorn/Estel was seriously wounded must have been a very, very difficult situation for both of them. It really is kind of a role reversal and it must have been quite hard for both of them to cope with it. I'm very glad it was easy to understand how Legolas was feeling!

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! :)

Poor Estel indeed - I thought it really was his turn to get injured this time (and he's not happy with me at all ;-). If Legolas ever meets any of those hunters again, they should better take to their heels! LOL.

Thanks a lot for reading and reviewing, Cairistiona! :)

P.S. That's a nice icon - it makes me want to read something angsty! *g*

hee hee... that's such a good hurt/comfort scene, isn't it?? Comfort from a horse, who knew!

I'm updating At Hope's Edge today, if that's angsty enough for you. *grin*

Lovely chapter. I like a lot and I'm waiting for the next. I want to know what's Legolas fears? What would happen if the orcs are close? or another kind of danger? Wow I cannot wait for more!!!!! I love the angst and tortured stories. Excellent job!!!

I'm very glad you loved the first part of my story! The cause for Legolas' fear will become evident in the next part. *g* It would be very bad if an enemy found them right now, but I'm afraid the thought didn't occur to me until now (I guess Legolas and Estel are quite happy about that! ;-). Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! :)

The way you depict their friendship bond is so absolutely beautiful, Tinu. I love how you use both of them to reflect the pain of the other, physical and internal, and that their suffering is shared...not simply sympathized with, but something they really do feel for one another. And that even though Estel's the one hurt, he's more concerned with how his friend might be reacting to his injury, trying not to make him aware of how much pain he's in. That one line, where you described Estel sensing an "echo of his own pain" in Legolas...oh, wow. Really, there's such a sense here that it's impossible to hurt one of them without causing the other the same pain. Poor both of them! The emotions here are so clear, so multi-dimensional. *loves*

And I loved seeing Legolas as the angry one, the one willing-to-use-offending-hunter-as-target-practice. *g*

I'm sorry it's taken me a bit to get to this first part; things were so busy last week! And now, thanks to that cliffie, I'm very very ready to gallop on to the second part. I ( ... )

I'm so glad you love the way I describe their friendship, Polly! They really mirror each other's pain in this chapter - which, in this case, is probably a good thing since worrying about Legolas was likely the only thing able to distract Estel from the pain he was in. I felt quite sorry for the both of them when I was writing this chapter. ;-)

Really, there's such a sense here that it's impossible to hurt one of them without causing the other the same pain.
That's perfectly the way I see it, though I don't think I could have put it into words. :)

I love Legolas in protective mode! *g*

There's no need to apologize - I think you are a lot busier than I am, and it's really wonderful that you were able to drop in and read and review my story at all! *huggles* I hope you won't have to hang on that cliffie for too long, lol! Thank you so much for your review, mellon-nin! :)
