Voice of My Heart - Chapter Seven: Alternative Ending
It's really stupid to call a mute person, Kyuhyun thought as he answered the phone and heard Ryeowook’s voice.
"Kyu! Kyu, I'm sorry, I love you! I know you must hate me for taking your voice away, but please tell me where you are." a loud sobbing and then more begging; "please tell me, I need to see you, please, please."
Kyuhyun hit his own forehead.
I'm mute you idiot, he thought, yet for some reason he was smiling.
He hung up and sent a text to Ryeowook instead.
‘I'm on my way home from the hospital.
Wait in our room, I'll be there soon.
Don't worry.’
When Kyuhyun returned he found Ryeowook sleeping on their bed. He gently woke him up by a touch on his shoulder.
"You went to the hospital.." he said while slowly sitting up.
"I can talk," Kyuhyun answered, his voice more hoarse than ever and Ryeowook’s surprise and relief painted all over his face.
"It hurts like hell though," Kyuhyun continued with a sheepish grin.
"-it suddenly returned while they were running tests at the hospital." Kyuhyun had to cough and the pain made him squeeze his eyes tightly shut.
"The doctors said I should probably just train my voice by singing often and in the end even the pain afterwards should go away. There'll be days when my voice will be completely gone they're guessing, but now they only think it'll be once in a while, if I strain myself particularly much."
Ryeowook was so relieved that tears were running down his cheeks again, but Kyuhyun merely laughed with his hoarse voice, sounding like an 80 year old smoker and then dried Ryeowook’s tears away.
"I should tell Sungmin as well," he said before knocking on the wall between their rooms.
"HYUNG!" he yelled, still in that hoarse voice. "I CAN TALK!"
From the other side came the sound of something shattering against the floor, swearing and finally a "GO TO HELL, CHO KYUHYUN!"
Kyuhyun smiled widely; "I LOVE YOU TOO, SUNGMIN HYUNG!" and then he looked back at Ryeowook. "is it a trio then? We should call us 'Kyuhyun and his two loving minions'. Hahahaha!"
And they did. Except for their name, for which Ryeowook and Sungmin went together to come up with something better.
A/N: because I feel really bad about taking away Kyuhyun's voice T_T I initially wrote this because I wanted it sooo badly to end happily, but.. in the end it dosn't fit very well with the rest of the story, does it? So I rewrote it, but couldn't make myself delete this ending. In my heart, this is how it ends. This is how everything ends. I don't lie. I just.. interpret things in a way to keep myself from being harmed, LOL. So now you understand why I kept this -^-
