Leeteuk was sitting in the living room, eyes closed. He could feel just a few sapphire pearl blue penlights turned on, spread mostly across Asia, but a single one in Europe and USA was turned on as well. He could feel the hopes and fears and thoughts of every one of the ELFs who had chosen to turn on their penlight today.
He could hear that one of them was a Malaysian fan remembering the last Super Show she went to.
Another one was an ELF who had never been to a Super Show, but wanted it so badly that she had bought a penlight over eBay.
He could feel the pain of the European ELF, who just wanted to think about something that would make her smile.
The American one was excitedly showing her penlight to a friend and he could feel the girls hope of making another ELF of her friend, so that they might fan-girl together, since she felt quite lonely outside tumblr.
He could feel all of them, see all of them, not one of them knowing how literally he meant it every time he said “we’re standing on the stage so that ELF can see us, but the penlights allow us to see you as well,” at concerts.
He saw them at concerts and he often cried because he was so overwhelmed by all of their emotions. Feeling +50,000 people’s emotions at one time had to be overwhelming.
He found support in the members though, so he always made it through the night.
But concerts weren’t the only time he saw them.
He saw them now too. He always saw them. And he was always there to feel whatever they felt with them, granting his grace and mercy to everyone, making them feel calmer and their hearts feel lighter.
Today was different though. Today he felt a penlight in South Korea, in Seoul, in this very dorm. He knew that a few of the members had penlights of their own, but he had never felt any of them turn it on.
‘What am I doing?’
Leeteuk heard the words as clearly as if the person had been standing right next to him.
‘Teukie hyung said he could see ELF because of this.. But this is silly…’
And Leeteuk recognized Kyuhyun’s voice.
‘Look at me Teukie hyung, please look at me. Please, please.’
Leeteuk rose from his bed. What was he supposed to do? Give him the same grace and mercy as he gave ELF? Pretend he didn’t know? Pretend he was human?
No, he couldn’t.
Instead he crossed the room and walked into the room Kyuhyun shared with Sungmin.
“Kyuhyun,” he began, not really knowing what to say.
The maknae’s eyes widened. “Leeteuk hyung..” ‘I love you..’
Leeteuk smiled, that special smile with a dimple on his left side, which Kyuhyun loved so much and for a moment the younger boy could have sworn he saw a white light surrounding his leader.
But then their lips met and everything collapsed in a caos of light and colors and heavenly sounds (was that Kyuhyun’s singing voice as well?) and the maknae couldn’t have cared less about white lights or angels. He only cared about Leeteuk and never letting him go.
Leeteuk never gave Kyuhyun any grace or mercy, like he usually did with ELFs who turned on their penlights. He gave him kisses and sweet words instead.
