Kyuhyun was floating amidst the stars.

He hadn’t been sure at first, but now it was clear to him.

Below him, above him, surrounding him completely; was darkness.

The only things separating themselves from the darkness were the stars. Some were far of, some closer, yet all seemed distant to him.

He heard himself mutter a; “what am I doing here?” but there was no one to answer his question.

Slightly panicking he couldn’t help but to call out helplessly; “Sungmin!”

His panick increased when he realized that he couldn’t remember who the name belonged to. It just felt like help would come if he kept screaming for this person.

He tried franticly to move and next thing he knew, he was falling.

The sky lightened from the completely darkness into a navy blue, then a sapphire blue and a voice next to him; “do you hate it that much?” it was Leeteuk’s voice, Kyuhyun knew and now he was fighting to remember the person who belonged to that name. He must be someone of importance to me..

“- hate being a star that much?” Kyuhyun must have missed something the voice had said and only replied with a “huh?”

He turned around in his falling position and stared back at the stars he was leaving.
“I’m not a star.” He muttered the words under his breath, defiant.

“Then what are you?” A sudden ache in Kyuhyun’s chest told him that this voice belonged to a person he had once loved, but like with everything else, his mind wasn’t able to tell him clearly who it was.

“Who are you?” he asked, concentrating hard to remember the name.

“I’m Sungmin. I’m Super Junior. What are you, Kyuhyun?”

Kyuhyun was still looking at the stars in front of him, increasing the distance between them by the millisecond as he was still falling.

“I’m a singer,” he answered, looking at the brightest star; looking at Sungmin; looking at Super Junior. “I’m not a star.”

A characteristic laugh; Kyuhyun knew it was Hangengs, even if he didn’t remember who Hangeng was or what he meant to him. “You’re wrong, Kyuhyun. You’re the brightest of us right now.”

Kyuhyun turned around, trying to avoid the voices coming from the stars he was leaving behind him. The sky surrounding him was a pale orange with purple and pink clouds, but Kyuhyun couldn’t see this. His eyes were darkening and his body was shaking from the cold.

“You’re a shooting star, Kyuhyun. You’re going to push yourself too far, you’re going to burn out, you’re going to die.”

Kyuhyun felt his eyes watering, not sure if it was due to fear or relief. His body was growing colder and colder and he wanted to welcome it, because he had never really wanted to be a star, he had never really wanted this life, and he couldn’t remember those voices anymore, so there was really nothing of importance to leave behind-

“Kyuhyun!” Kyuhyun jerked up in bed, dripping with sweat and with watery eyes.

“What’s with your New Year’s resolution about waking up in time?” Sungmin was laughing.
“Guess this will be one more year of waking you up every day. Not that I mind much, you are only cute when you’re sleeping.”

Kyuhyun remembered this voice. He remembered this face, he remembered Sungmin, he remembered the pounding of his heart when they had their first kiss, he remembered everything.

He wasn’t a star. He was a singer.

“I need you, Sungmin,” his voice was no more than a whisper, but Sungmin heard him well enough and sat down beside him on the bed.

“I know.”

“Don’t let me fall. Please don’t.. some nights I think I want to, but I don’t. Not really. I don’t want to leave you, I don’t want to die. I just want to sing.”

Sungmin nodded. He didn’t know what to say; all he could do was to stay next to his lover.

“I don’t want to be a star. It’ll kill me someday hyung, it’ll kill you to.”

Though they didn’t say it aloud they were both scared, hugging each other close.

He let out a few sobs and even fewer tears, before he forced himself out of bed; today was a busy schedule, though he wouldn’t be singing at all.
