Zelman Essay
It was bound to happen and I snagged the computer for today. XD IT'S DOLLY'S FAULT OKAY.
First Meeting: Naoto was hanging out on the church roof and Zelman wandered close enough to initiate a conversation. /o/ Nothing too epic, just a casual talk about living in the city and new arrivals and churches. At the time, Naoto didn't see anything too bad about the guy. She just thought he was relatively normal. lololol.
Of course, when she found out he was a vampire and she let him bite her out of doubt that his biting was all that it was cracked up to be, that's when things began to get interesting.
Best Moment(s):
1. Naoto puppy, definitely. When she got stuck in one of Chat's traps and Zelman helped her out without knowing who she was at first, she realized there was more to this guy than general assery. He also got the title of "Puppy Savior" out of it.
2. When Nill disappeared, Naoto became depressed and subdued and all of those lovely things. Zelman actually tried to cheer her up by being nice and letting her hold Arnold (lol the duckling) and everything. It was sort of sweet. ;-; (but the part where he was all "Ky liiiiiikes you" made her drywall again XD)
3. Human!Zelman. 8D Naoto was very amused at just how thrilled he was to be able to enjoy breathing and stuff ike fruit and he caught her off-guard when he told her his reasons for doing whatever the hell he wanted to do. And he finally got her to agree to a date after two months of asking her. XD Granted, she only said yes because she was sick to death of having to deal with so much at once, and she didn't want Ky trying to make her wear his cross again. Might as well get it out of the way, less to deal with, yaaaay. (if he EVER tells Ky, though, she'll be pissed. ... Or if she finds out he told Haine ahahaha.)
4. ZE DAAAATE. Truthfully, I thought Naoto would wind up stabbing him at least once, but she actually refrained! And it was cute how he made fireworks for her, since she'd never seen them before. The banter made me laugh, particularly when Zelman started sulking because of the "Red-Eyed Babysitter" title. XD He actually got Naoto to laugh! /o/ And that's really hard to get from her, so props to Zelman.
And of course Zelman taking care of the Amnesiac Chibis so cuuuuuute
Worst Moment(s):
1. When Naoto was napping and Haine was hanging around and Zelman dropped by to say hello. It led to Naoto clapping her hand over his mouth to shut him up and Zelman bit her. In front of Haine.
... Yeaaaah, that didn't end well. Haine was probably one of the last people Naoto wanted to be there for something like that, since getting the "better than sex" feeling in front of a guy you're sorta kinda friends/bickerers with is VERY AWKWARD. Haine had to help her to the church while Zelman bombarded her with thoughts about her and Haine getting married. Instant HAET. Being bitten against her will also sucked.
2. Being sick in the clinic and Zelman biting her neck while she was totally helpless to fight him off. Oh man. I've said this before, but Naoto HATES not being able to do anything to fight off ANYTHING unwanted, and she definitely wasn't in the best shape to stop Zelman. She was furious with him and only recently barely forgave him for that.
3. Although she didn't react much, Naoto wasn't happy at all when she saw what Zelman had done to Haine after a fight or something. Poor guy was all comatose and stuff. She also didn't approve of Zelman messing with Haine's mind or tampering with his memories since whoooops memories are very very important to her. And then Zelman had the gall to ask her out. While Haine's being comatose.
Naoto was not amused.
I could also say the time he kissed her, since that pissed her off pretty badly. Poor Nao-chan, everyone keeps stealing her kisses.
Zelman in General: Naoto's not an easy person to irritate, but Zelman's fairly good at it. She's given up on stabbing him, though, unless she loses her temper, and now she has a nice silver knife to make it hurt if he ever tries biting her when she doesn't want him to. Again.
I think these two have a mutual enjoyment in finding the soft spots of the other and bringing them out. Like how Naoto can ruffle Zelman by calling him "Grandpa" or "Red-Eyed Babysitter" and how she KNOWS he has a soft spot for kids, Zelman can ruffle Naoto by commenting on her maternal instincts. Zelman gets the majority of Naoto's drywall in response, which is better than getting the majority of her enmity.
Yep, that's right. Naoto doesn't hate Zelman. He annoys her and she doesn't always approve of the things he does, what with the Eye Raid and the biting and the picking on Ky and Badou, but he's become more tolerable lately and she doesn't mind just holding conversations with him now. She doesn't understand his interest in her at ALL, but so long as he doesn't attempt to try anything, she'll put up with it. I seriously think at some point, Zelman could be considered a friend-- they're just not quite at that point yet. Naoto holds grudges and is still a little wary of divulging too much information to him, even if she doesn't hold the same irritation towards him that Ky does. Zelman's flippant talk about wars and death and doing what he wants puts her in mind of an immature kid, so she just views it as such. Which is why she gets surprised when he says something wise or acts kindly, etc. She's also cautious because sometimes she gets the feeling Zelman only views her as entertainment and Naoto really DOES NOT LIKE being seen as someone's toy or amusement. So she keeps reminding him that she isn't. XD
So right now, Zelman is barely an acquaintance. Naoto's slightly interested in what he said about them having more in common than she knew, but who knows, right? I WILL say if he EVER bites her again when she doesn't want him to, that'll destroy any chance at all of them ever being friends. Romantically? Uh. Zelman's hot but the only time Naoto'd be receptive is while he's drinking her blood lol. With their personalities, he'd drive her crazy and it's an unspoken rule that Naoto doesn't take romantic interest in people who aren't even friends yet.
Possibly friends in the future, but it depends on a lot--! (Taking Teresa's sword would get him instant raeg. Breaking Ky's teacups, though? Probably not; she doesn't get the whole teacup fascination anyway. She'd be angry about him provoking Ky, though, since she lives with the guy.) Faito, Zelman.
