I'm melting!

Tomorrow it's supposed to cool down! All the way to the upper 90's, oh boy! It was one of those days where you just feel gross. I freshened up into new sets of underwear twice before I finally just took a cold shower. It was glorious. Really, so wonderful... and then I remembered we're soon to be put on rationing so I cut it short. But my hair ( Read more... )

..and feel free NOT to answer this if you don't want (especially on the oh so public internets) but i'm curious to know your thoughts on this issues, which really has a lot of dimensions. i don't know many other conservatively leaning people who actually take the time to LEARN what the hell they are talking about. (hmm, in fact, i dont know many of those who lean progressivdly who do that either ( ... )

i think the problem might be that you see opposition to gay marriage as "conservative"-

i am opposed to it as well, because it doesn't actually solve the real problem (which it seems you have a grasp of):

are you opposed to gay marriage in general? do you support some sort of "civil union" for homosexual couples that offer the same benefits (tax breaks, insurance, inheritance rights, etc etc)?

the problem isn't that john wants to marry jack, or that bill wants to marry his dog, or that frank has three wives-
the problem is that at some point along the way, "marriage" got tied in to all this other crap that it shouldn't have anything to do with-
(instead of being the personal, purely spiritual entity it should be)

so... CA or SF doing things like this is to me just more mutual stroking over "lifestyle" and "rights" without actually fixing the problem or changing anything at all-

and i'm guessing that is miss heha was puling for ron paul (as was i), then she's on board with this same idea :)

It's such a damned complicated issue if only because it becomes so personal, not specifically for me, but for my friends. I know some people who will want to get married when they find "the one", but others aren't interested. Just like a lot of our straight friends, no surprise there. So many people already live as married couples and it doesn't really make a difference to me if they are legally allowed to be married. So why not ( ... )
