Hey man. You're in a troublesome place called Purgatorium. Some stupid gods brought a whole buncha people here to be punished for sins. So that's the basic gist of things. The gods like to toy with all the people here and make life troublesome--prolly parta our punishment or whatever, even though not everyone really seems to deserve it.

Oh, supposedly the gods will let us leave when we atone for our sins, but I honestly think that's just a lie. And if you die, well... you lose a memory. Might be important ones, might not be, but those have more impact than we realize.
