that victrola looks really cool! is that an actual thing you can buy, or something someone just came up with as an idea?

You can actually buy it! Anthropologie and DWR have been selling them, although they seem to all be out at the moment. It looks like this guy makes them? And apparently it actually functions like an old victrola where the sound is carried through the base and amplified through the horn. No electricity, no wires!

That victrola! Oh my goodness, it's lovely. (Do they by chance come with a "no antiques were harmed in the making of these products" tag? I have feelings about the dismantling of antiques as well.)

I found a video of it in action! Sounds like they didn't mess with the speaker at all, and makes the music sound incredibly acoustic. (The excerpt they chose helps, of course. :)
