Family Night

Why is it that I am the only person who can actually get my niece to let me brush her hair? I mean, the kid screams bloody murder if most people breathe in the vicinity of her hair. But I just brushed it for about fifteen minutes, then French-braided it without a peep from her. We are hoping that I can teach my nephew (her father) to braid her hair ( Read more... )

Are you sure we aren't related? Because it sure sounds like we share some of the same family.

It's quite possible. I'd claim you!

How are you feeling? I've meant to comment, but I've been in a funk. I thought tonight would get me jolly. Instead, it just gave me a headache.

Incisions itch but they are healing.

Still trying to get rid of the allergic rash from the betadine that I didn't know I was allergic to. Dammed thing is hanging around like relatives at a free barbque.

And I have discovered that I can't stomach chocolate at the moment.

Other than that, doing well.

CHOCOLATE? Oh, dear. I think that would be more traumatic than itchy incisions or rashes.

We also got to hear a monologue about Chee-tos from a three-year-old. They are "ker-unch-chee."

This story is amazing. It needs to be a book or a tv show or something. But not a sitcom. It's too sweet to be made fun of. A bittersweet and sometimes funny quirky drama.

Wow. You BIL is a rare individual indeed. How vastly kind of him, to look after those folks, when their own families weren't doing it. :)

And maybe your grand-neice screams bloodly murder because everyone other than you pulls her hair when they brush it? I had a few folks I wouldn't allow to brush my hair when I was young, too....it's about trust.

The real problem is that her mother doesn't want to do anything that makes her scream. So she doesn't brush her hair and it gets tangled. Then when someone brushes out the tangles it either hurts, takes a long time, or both. If her mother would brush the child's hair every day, it would be fine.

I think I just have a way with kids. I've always been able to get them to do just about anything I want/need them to do. I can't tell you how many parents I've freaked out. My godson used to scream when his mother clipped his finger and toenails. He would let me do it without a peep. It's just a weird talent. Kids and animals.
