Do you think that crying is a selfish thing to do? Why or why not?

Yes, a lot of the time it is, but it depends on the circumstances.
What sort of crying are we talking?

Well, say if someone died. It makes no sense to cry for them, because they're already gone, so you must be crying for yourself and how much you'll miss them, right?

Which brings me to my next question: if I don't cry, does that make me unselfish and accepting of death, or a repressed and heartless bitch?

I hadn't really thought of it like that...but I suppose when someone dies you're not really crying for them, even though most people would say you were.
I don't think it's heartless not to cry, I mean, grief affects people differently and all that...
I've never cried for anyone who died...I've known a few...my granny and some other relatives...but I never cried for them.
Hurm...I think I'll go and think about it...

i would be happy for them not sad because they will be having experiences we can only imagine, so really you would be crying for yourself. yes, it is hard to lose someone so crying is only of the 'silly human' nature and it feels reallllly good. release. but death is life and crying is life so live on. if you dont feel like crying, dont. if anyone thinks of you as a heartless bitch, they've got some 'searching' to do themselves. doesnt really matter.
