The Death Sentence.

So I watched Dead Man Walking today with one of the girls here... and well it really made me angry. As any film about the Death penalty does. I just hate that we still have this notion of justice being taking the same thing the other person took

i concur. dead man walking is a super cry fest, except for the part where you see jack black being a serious red neck brother and think to yourself, "oh come now jack black, we all know your rightful place is in tenacious D, not in a serious film..." anyhow. i dislike the death penalty very much. but even more, i dislike when the bible is used as support for things such as the death penalty and discrimination, things which, as you say, completely contridict jesus' message and the golden rule.
also, i've always thought that having to live with something you've done is much worse than the easy out of death. this isnt to say i want people to life a life of suffering and agony over what they've done, but i feel its important to give someone the time to actually consider the impact of their actions- a first step in taking responsibility. if that makes sense...
