I just saw a CH12 report on the black bear that made its way near the campus of a local Middle School.  Yesterday, it was reported the bear was caught and released into the wild.  Today, we learned it had been "euphanized." What a great word! See the bear was killed for its own good, and the word exists for my own good, so I don't have to think too ( Read more... )

"Euphanized"? Is that some sort of euphemism for euthanized?

Not exactly. It was an attempt at a neologism to capture how unmistakably "euthanized" (in this situation) was being used as euphemism. So, I guess, in retrospect, the bear was killed, and we were euphanized.
