Last Friday, James and I went to San Juan Bautista to see the mission that Vertigo was filmed at. And a really old town that hasn't changed in 200 years.
From the website,
http://www.san-juan-bautista.ca.us/index.htm:
"The mission, founded in 1797, is the oldest; it was located here by Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen because there were many Indians in the area, and because it was about a day's walk from either Mission Santa Clara or Mission San Carlos Borromeo at Carmel. Excellent soil and a good water supply, as well as timber, rock and other building materials were available nearby."
It's still an active Catholic church. There was a funeral going on when we got there, so we didn't go in.
James and I were the youngest people walking around by about 40 years.
Holy Water
Because we had to keep the cat out of the apartment while the building had an exterminator fuming it up, we got Tarny a harness. I think he's warming up to the fact that if he lets me get it on him, he can sunbathe outside. We have done this twice so far.
Yesterday James and I walked around downtown Oakland and Chinatown just because it was so beautiful. This is inside The Rotunda, which is just an office building for lawyers and doctors and such, but I never knew it was so beautiful inside!
Last night we hung out at Ace & Libby's apartment, also with Emily there, to eat chips and cookies for dinner, watch The Happening (Hey, tree, say hello to your mother for me), and dress their cat up like a cowboy.

This is our window now.
This morning was the farmer's market and coffee. These 2 giant fluffy white dogs belong to a worker at James' bookstore, which is right next to the cafe we sit at. They are brothers that stay tied to each other but to nothing else, and mostly sleep and block the sidewalk/entrance to neighboring stores all day. Here is one of the fluffs blocking the entrance to the coffee shop. People just step over them to get in, no big deal.
Today I am going to finish some crafty thing and hopefully walk around outside a lot. It's very very nice out. Indian Summerrrrr.
