Phew... Just came back yesterday, and I'm still feeling tired... XDDD
Had a really fun time throughout the adventure! 21 days of crazy state hopping with 9 other buddies and driving round scenic routes, climbing mountains (not really, but close XD) and hitting the skydecks... It's tiring, but really fun ultimately.
First up had been Brisbane and Gold Coast, where we headed to our first trekking adventure in this escape. The waterfalls were really beautiful; the only unfortunate thing was that it poured whilst we were on the route, and being wet, we were unable to take many pictures of the falls, save a few that Benny did at the expense of his cammie. Then there were the worlds, movie and dreamworld, and the beaches! Psst, weather at these two places were hot!
We also had a day at Moreton Island, where we tried sandboarding down a sand dune-like place before taking a dip in a freshwater lagoon. Imagine my shock when the water did not taste salty! Stupid 'ole me... XDDDD Then there was Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, where I got to hug a koala!!!~ Eheheh, NSW doesn't allow the hugging of koalas, so virtually all of us took the opportunity here to hug koalas and take photos with them! XDDD We also went to the Draculas Caberet for a dinner to celebrate GD's birthday! 'Tis my first time going to a caberet, so I found the entire event pretty refreshing for me. It's a relatively small cast performance, but I have to say that the musicians are very good. The bassist in particular was very talented, and I enjoyed watching him play the double bass before the show started. The drummer is another crazy fellow, and he's good! XDDDD
Next had been Melbourne, where it was somewhat cooler though no less sunny. We toured the city centre for two days, shopping at the DFO (personally, I felt that the Brisbane one was better...), had Koko Black, and went to the old Melbourne Gaol. *cough ned kelly cough* We even went to the prison tour, where we were locked up in a prison cell when the lights suddenly went off. XD
Once out of the city, the main highlights were Phillip Island, the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians. The lookouts that Candice planned were great! One great moment was when both cars were rushing against the sun - all of us happily sped through the windy roads to reach the twelve apostles on time to watch the sunset, and it was magnificent, albeit cold. XDDD At Phillip Island, watching the 'battalions' of little penguins waddle up shore had been worth freezing my arse off at the observation deck! Got to see them up close and personal, and they were so cute!!!!! It was fascinating, watching how they waddle up the shore and make their way to their homes that are so far away. Whilst walking on the pathways, you can still see them waddle to all the different places. What's more, it was mating season at this time of the year, so we got to see the penguins feed their young, and there were some that were mating in dark places XDDD As for the Grampians, what can I say about it? The views at the lookouts are just so amazing! Furthermore, we actually tried a 5.5km return climb to the Pinnacle - although crazy but a successful climb - and despite the wind and rocky pathway, we still had a wonderful time then!~
After Melbourne had been Tasmania, where it was the craziest... We went to Port Arthur for a ghost tour, eagle handgliding, Tahune Air Walk, chairlift at Cataract Gorge, horseriding, a spotlight tour of night creatures, a trek around Dove Lake, and climbing up Mt Wellington. Imagine doing all these within 7 days.... XDDDD This was the chiong like crazy end man!!! XD What was even more memorable had been when we were heading from Port Arthur towards another town... It had been raining, so whilst we were driving on the winding roads, we encountered several fallen trees and we had actually tried pushing away the branches and small trunks when we finally hit a snag when two trees fell across the roads and it's just impossible for us to move them away. Imagine man.... ten people trying to move parts of the trees throughout the ride. *sweatdrop* It was an interesting experience though -- you'll never experience this in Singapore.
We also saw dolphins up close -- around a hundred metres away - during our Freycinet kayaking. It had been a cloudy weather with slight drizzle; this had me a little depressed (I hate cold weather), so imagine my happiness when I saw the dolphins. It just brightened up my day - and I'd like to believe everyone of us had the same feeling - immediately!
Ugh, there's so many stuff I can talk about, but I'm sleepy, and soon, I'll have to start collating the photos that I have of six of us... Imagine, I've got 33gb of photos for this trip alone. I wonder how long it'll take to finish filtering for the best photos man... XDDDDDDD
Wish me luck!
