It would be harder to shake the Turk escort when they were back to full strength, Rufus figured. It was hard enough to shake the two that were around, difficult to convince them that he was perfectly capable of looking after himself for a few hours. Fortunately, they had their own agendas, which might have been unacceptable back on Gaia but which worked to his advantage in this instance.
He waited until evening to make a move. The lights were back on; street lamps flickered at erratic intervals. The light kept the monsters away, but it would just be a matter of time, Rufus reflected, before they grew bolder. Finding his shotgun was a definite priority...but perhaps it hadn't been taken by Customs at all. Perhaps it was still with Kadaj.
Brother.
His lip curled, some barely registered sense of disgust flickering through the back of his mind. Some ... annoyance... perhaps, with Kadaj, although the reason eluded him. A general sense of distrust. Perhaps it was simply the other's abrasive attitude... perhaps it was something more.
Nevertheless, this was a meeting that promised to be interesting. Kadaj had something for him, he said, and Rufus knew better than to expect that it was something he'd necessarily want, given to him out of the kindness of his brother's heart. More likely something to ensure that he didn't usurp his place and claim mother's favour.
Hn.
Kadaj hadn't specified where to meet; he had been vague in the 'You won't find me, I'll find you' sense, just another instance to add to Rufus' mounting annoyance. Drifting from shadow to shadow, he kept an eye out for monsters - both the four legged variety and the two.
