Kedron Nolastnamehere, all of 13 years old and obnoxious, popped up behind Aaron with nearly uncanny precision. He'd been skulking around the edge of the gathering, himself, hoping to nab some of the sandwiches before someone noticed and made him stick around for the boring speeches.
He eyed the strange boy? girl? with a trace of contempt. "Geez, it's just the lights going out. Scared of the dark?"

Right.
Kedron shrugged, one shouldered. "They call it Arcadia. It's run by an pissy computer. But..." he glanced around, frowning. "Right now, it seems like we're having the power outage of doom."
Did that mean that uSUC was down? Well.
"Who are you?" Kedron's social skills weren't exactly up to par, or else he might have tried to reassure the obviously upset Aaron.

Rufus had been talking with Xehan, but there was a sudden confusion as people milled around. The next moment Elena was in front of him, and he instinctively glanced around, looking for assassin's bullets.
Damnit. He held his breath for a few seconds, but the lights weren't coming on again, and--

She could take the insults and annoyance, in exchange for his safety.

Kadaj stiffened, having been fixated on the light show, smiling over it - the awe, the hushed whispers every time she crushed another little speck in the sky sending a gleeful thrill down his spine - and then just like that, it had gone, and there were screams and hysteria and he couldn't see Rufus, couldn't see Sephiroth, couldn't see anyone in the hectic crowd.
Damn it, where were his brothers?! He scowled, eyes narrowing, and he stalked through the heaving bodies; he had to find them. They had to get out of there. Regroup. Assess.
This wasn't them, and that was wrong. Whoever was meddling with their plans... they would pay for this, and pay dearly!
The sound of the monster - not far enough in the distance for his liking - only made him fight through them faster. He could see blond there somewhere, could swear it was him...
Shoving one of the many individuals aside, he swore under his breath.
It would be fine. Mother knew. Mother had to know.
... Didn't she?
"Out of my way!"

Find out, she hissed at him, a feeling more than actual words, dripping with fury and venom.

The transmission was almost evident in Kadaj's sudden stop, his immediate change in priority. His heel dug into the ground as he turned towards the last place he'd seen the robots; from within the loose, long coat he'd disguised himself in, he drew Souba. They could give him uSUC's power source. He would identify the problem. He would prove himself!
... Assuming, of course, that they were running on their own backup power units - though it'd do little good if their brains were in uSUC, shut down with the rest.
Right now, however, it was his best chance.

Even with all these differences to the world, he knew a problem when he saw one; as soon as the lights began to die overhead, his fingers sought out their grip on Seed's arm, Gale's sleeve. He'd need to keep them close, he realised.
And when he plunged into the dark, he was glad he'd decided to.
... And then there came that long howl, and if he hadn't already guessed that there was trouble on the horizon, he certainly knew it now.
"Seed. We need to get out of--" A rather angry brunette shoved past Jowy, and he was pushed quite effectively into Gale. He whipped around to deal with the person who would dare be so rude - though in this hysteria, he wasn't entirely sure what he could do about it - but he was long gone. Saved him the trouble, at least...
"We need to go."
His rune pulsed madly on his flesh, eager for the impending battle. It was all the warning he really needed.

Darkness.
Seed was too much of a soldier to be scared. He had been through too many battlefields painted in black to worry about a city going dark with beasts howling in the distance. Men were much, much more terrifying; they would leave you gutted and broken, leave you for the monsters to come and clean up with your face pushed into your best friend's guts and your legs snapped and angled like broken sticks.
Seed was much more scared of people than of creatures, and this was nothing new to him. He grabbed Jowy in turn, heart pounding, getting ready for fighting blind, trying to gauge which direction the bestial cry had come from. "Why aren't we gone?"

It wasn't until more panicking civilians rammed into him than he thought he ought to look down again, focused on a shadow that he was fairly sure was Seed. "Where do we go, Seed? You can hear the monster, can't you? Here's the center - so anywhere we head out, we risk running into it!"

"--I'm sorry, I have to go find Zelda." he said hastily, praying that Midna was still with her. Together they'd be able to protect one another better than alone. Pushing himself up he found his eyes adjusted to the dark much moreso and began to seek out the subtle tugging sensation he associated with Zelda.
"... Zolf, be careful! I don't know what happened, but it seems it'd be easy for people to panic..."
