[1st Scene] [Accidental Video/In Person for New Bark Town]

May 15, 2011 21:23

[The feed is very obviously accidental - and from the angle, the pokegear's clipped to the belt of someone who's pacing around the south edge of New Bark Town, quite agitated and apparently looking for something.]

[Audible, and visible here and there, is an exceptionally pathetic Feebas flopping along behind, trying to keep up as best it can as a ( Read more... )

[Looks like someone needs help.]

That's an ugly fish. But, it's your starter. Congratulations.

...My starter. [No, he's not sure what that means but he does grasp the implication that he's supposed to have a connection to this fish.]

Is it normal for these to not suffocate on land? [The fish is ... still on the ground at his feet.]

When you come here, you get a Pokémon companion. There's a guide in your bag that you'll probably want to look into.

If you can call it normal. But here, I guess so. They like to be in the water, but they don't suffocate when they're out of it.

.......

[That's a look at the fish. Seriously, world? Seriously?]

Is there someone who decides the "companion" or is that some sort of mystical bond of unknown origin? [That may have been sarcasm if it had more energy to it.]

...

Pokayball? [All he's seen are the small ... little...]

...These devices are able to hold that?

...

[He'll file away curiosity on just how this works and how to possibly make something of it for after he's done with the various layered nasty snarls he has to deal with to "adjust".]

[And will be ... well, kneeling down to hold the ball out towards the fish and opening it... and shortly ending up with a pokéball of Feebas.]

Thank you for the information - that should make this much easier.

That's a Feebas... I have one myself, they won't suffocate when they are outside of the water, but they are much faster in it.

...Unusual.

Can they do anything besides ... well... for the time being, flop?

It should at least know one attack that can cause some damage. That should be good enough until you or get more pokemon to help you when this one gets too tired.

Have you already gone trough the manuals? Those should help you a bit.

I think I may have to - I had mainly been in a hurry to get out of that strange house and find my bearings.

If it is a joke, it is a rather nasty one. Though I wouldn't worry about the fish. It seems that most aquatic Pokémon can handle land well enough, even if they aren't suited for it.

Hello, Kuja.

[Well, you have his attention - and about ten kinds of paranoia tripped - the list of people that knew him that he was aware of, who WOULDN'T have it in for him, is very ... very ... short. He recognizes the style of the armor, but he's never seen those designs worn by a human before-]

[The brief flicker of something trapped and hostile gets stepped on into a neutral smile, however.]

Well, at least it's not suicidal.

My apologies, have we met?

Since it seems to be your starter, I would hope not.

[Kain maintains his calm, thinking it wise not to try and make any more enemies. The ever paranoid Squall was bad enough.]

Perhaps not. Does the Cycle of Conflict mean anything to you?

[With all of his list of old stories, that doesn't get more than the vaguest sense of maybe something... no, nothing that'd be outright named that coming to mind, making this curiouser and curiouser.]

No, I'm afraid not.

Should it be familiar?

[And you have his attention, albeit slightly cautiously - the last thing he remembers WAS Zidane diving into the collapsing Iifa Tree after him - ]

So I've been told...

... Zidane?

[Oh, how is this even supposed to work - "Hello, first-person-to-show-signs-of-giving-a-damn, oh right, about your home city being half destroyed and your friends being tormented as well as using you as a pawn against your will-"]

I think it would take a little more than just disorientation to forget you. [As much as he's in a slightly unstable and prickly mood right now, it still somehow comes out more tired than anything, as he pauses to run a hand through where the feathers should've been and brush hair out of his eyes.]

I think the lady claiming to be my mother was a good first clue. [And THAT turns a little more ruffled, disgruntled, and irritated, for reasons Zidane shouldn't have much trouble guessing.]
