That head has been on Furbid for awhile now. If you read the description, it says :"...FC is coming up real soon..." In fact, this auction started on the same day as FC, so it is a relist.

Looks like someone really wants to dump the head. They may need to, but the listing was never re-worded to include the funeral reason. So, yeah, I think yer right.

Also, this person is a ghost... this is their only lj post.. they have noone listed as friends, this is their first furbuy post and that head is not someone's first attempt at making fursuits... Something is quite obfuscated here, Do they even have this head? Is it a seller with a bad rep hiding under a new name? Is it rex beowulf stirring up shit again?

it be hard to say tho. This item seems it was on the auction for a while, the LJ seems to just been created recently, with nothing on it cept with the purpose as it appeared was to make that post. Not sure if it was something that just popped up, or created as there has been nobody bidding on the item when it coming to an end of the bid after being up for a while. maybe the timing was right, but it does seem to toss up red flags here and there, and such. but who knows, it may be real.

Maybe if artistic furries wouldn't ask for handouts at the slightest gray cloud it would be easier to trust that strangers are being honest in a time of need.

I think it's an offshoot of the recession.

For years, we furries have bragged about how much we help the common man, etc. In times of trouble, we stick together, blah blah blah. We raise tons of money for charity.

But now, we're in a recession, and recessions are good for making people's bad economic decisions (like, oh, buying a fursuit when you barely get by) look worse. And now people are scrambling for cash. And remember, "Furs help each other!" So what we have here is the "furries give til it hurts" mentality crossed with the "furries help each other" mentality.

And when this recession ends, and it will end, I bet this annoying offshoot of it stays.

More like market saturation. Yeah, the recession factors into that; but these days everyone and their mom is a fursuit builder and there's only so many people with several hundred dollars to blow on something that's essentially sub-par.
