I'm planning on making shirts for our dismal viola section. They were going to say "Violas Don't Suck." with "PROJECT VIOLA EMPOWERMENT" on the back. I consulted a screen printing place with David and found out that the shirts would only cost around $10.50 a piece. I told Wiebener about it and she laughed, but then told me that the school wouldn't ( Read more... )

I kinda like Submit. Maybe you should talk to Hanson about it - I can't imagine that Wiebener's right about that. Hanson himself says "Damn Yankees" every day on the announcements.

My advice to anyone who ever wants to make tee-shirts: DON'T TELL ANYBODY WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO SAY. This is why last year's math club tees with the list of pickup lines don't have these little gems:

"Could you help me with some multiplication?"
"I wish you were a function and I were your integral, because then I'd be the area under your curves."
"I wish I were your math problem set, because then I'd be really hard and you'd be doing me on the desk."

Also, Hanson is a lame S.O.Bitch. Just go ahead and make the tee-shirts anyway.

I agree whole-heartedly with your advice. Just make the shirts; never tell anyone what they'll say if that person might stop you.

As for Hanson- I've been forced by many a teacher to run t-shirt ideas directly through him. Dumb, yes. But he's never once stopped me, even when some of the stuff was less than appropriate. (The drumline shirts, for example.) In most cases, he's just laughed and said it was fine.

It seems as though the administration has conceded to let us have our double entendres so long as no shoulder blades are exposed.

My concern isn't Hanson. I'm sure he'd let us do it. It's Wiebener. If she thinks they're innapropriate, I don't want to risk getting the rest of the section in her bad graces. You KNOW she can make life difficult.

Wait, getting your section in her bad graces?
