As much as I love my family, I think I'm just about ready for school to start up again, especially since I feel like I'm walking on eggshells anytime my dad is near. He may be my dad, but that doesn't change the fact that he scares the hell out of me ( Read more... )

Even at holiday time (or perhaps because of it) my pessimistic character shines through. I'm working to get rid of that. At least tame it a bit.

You and me both. Morbid people don't like to pretend they've always got the warm fuzzies of holiday spirit. And now I'll shut up. LOL!

Christmas is rarely as warm and fuzzy as it's supposed to be. That's why I prefer Halloween. Wear costumes, eat candy, scare children, watch horror movies--it's fun. At Christmas, it's easier to worry about whether you got the right gift for various people, whether you'll run out of money before you get to everyone on your list, how long you'll be expected to tolerate various relatives--it's high maintainance and a bit of a pain in the ass.

So I don't think your pessimism is necessarily as out of place as you might think.
