Sometimes....when I start thinking I'm actually getting somewhere, I realize I still have a great deal more to learn. It's weird being happy and sad at the same time. I have an incredible job and spend my days having adventures and meeting interesting new people....but I'm...well....I think I'm lonely.

I think you could find some great people to hangout with in SF. You have a huge BDSM scene, the birthplace of Burners, an active scene of activists... I will be visiting my BFF & my 2nd favourite city again soon. If you're still feeling lonely, mayhaps I'll be able to introduce you to some peoples.

I don't want to agree with you, because I fear that would sound patronizing or something. But I hope you aren't lonely any longer than necessary. You're a really dedicated person and I'm sure that will let you find good times.
