this is link to an early article my favorite mathematician, Seymour Papert. It outlines much of his future work on teaching kids to think like mathematicians by harnessing the power of technology. He describes a "turtle" in the piece as marking device that can get rigged to a computer. (please note the piece was published in 1971; so don't expect too much processing power :) ) This "turtle" has been converted into a digital version, and the programming language for it is now also used to program LEGO and LEGO robots! If you are interested, let me know. I will install the software on my ibook to show/share with you tomorrow.
