Hearing that Karr had torn away from Foundation headquarters like a bat out of hell was one of several things that could attract Calvin's attention.
She knew the sort of roads the AIs favored, much as she knew she'd not really have a chance of finding Karr if he didn't want to be found or hadn't gotten himself into trouble. After... oh, some little time, a dark green sedan rolled to a stop near where Karr lay sprawled.
Calvin didn't say anything. Simply got out of her car and leaned on it, watching her son with a calm expression and rather worried eyes.
He heard the car pull up, pondered, for a split second, killing whoever it was just to vent the anger. He laid still for as long as it took the predatorial thought to pass, then slowly sat up, propping himself up with one hand, the wrist of the other rested on his knee.
His voice still wasn't quite in working order, so he simply glowered at Calvin, jaw clenched so tightly his teeth ached.
"Who did what?" she asked, still calm enough. 'Who' would tell her where to direct her professional ire, 'what' would let her know how much ire to direct. Someone had clearly done something stupid, probably made a comment that Karr had...
