Karr was sitting out on the porch sulking, looking out at the sunset and knowing he couldn't very well go get grumpy with Aly for doing what she did best; welcoming people in

Poppy really couldn't drive. She'd gotten... better? as the trip continued, but Kitt was nearly certain that his life had been shortened by a considerable amount when they finally arrived at their destination. He'd taken to sitting for most of the trip with his hands over his eyes and his breath held, gasping occasionally at their near misses. He'd never realized how sorely he would miss the Trans Am, not only for it's speed, but also for the MBS. He felt exceedingly vulnerable in an ordinary car. He wondered how people managed to convince themselves to get behind the wheels of such things on a regular basis. And traveling with cats? Oh, the joys.
He really hoped he would be in a condition to drive by the time they were ready to go home

She had warned him. On many occasions. Before this. Driving and Poppy were not good friends. And seeing his reaction really didn't help. She wanted to smack him and copy him in equal measures. It didn't help with the nerves. So part of the awful trip was his fault. Yes. Completely.
She let out an audible sigh of relief as she turned off the engine. When she looked over at him, it was somewhat sheepish. "Oh look, it's Karr's house," she announced chirpily.
"Oh, look." His voice had a hysterical edge to it, complete with a shaky smile. He gave her a sideways glance as he stiffly maneuvered himself out of the car. She'd need training, yes. Lots of training. He just managed not to laugh in maniacal relief as his feet hit solid ground.
"Karr's house." Thank goodness.
Using the car for leverage, he pulled himself up slowly, left arm hampered by a sling, right foot swathed in wraps. On second thought, he'd find a way to drive on the way home, healed or not. He flashed her a brief if slightly sarcastic 'good job' smile over the roof of the car.
Which got a sweet smile back and the finger. She had tried. And again, warned him about her lack of driving aptitude. All it would take was some practice. Hopefully. Secretly, she was quite proud of herself for actually doing it.
"Oh God, there's no need to be so dramatic about it," she said, rolling her eyes. "It's not like we died or anything." Plus he was already all banged up. She really couldn't have done that much more to him.
No doubt. But he also had no doubts as to her civility.
He had to purse his lips to keep from laughing, smiling tightly and nodding with pent up mirth at Karr's retreating back. Who knew how well his hearing was?
"You have a devious mind. You and he should actually get along famously."
Just for that, Karr held the screen door open just a little too long. A pair of large shepherds, one fully grown, the other still in that long-legged puppy-not-quite-adult stage boiled out and made a beeline for the visitors.
Reading this was such a great help. Anti aging skin products is such a complicated thing and this article explained it well. Many thanks to this new information.

Not good. Not good at all. It wasn't even funny as a joke.

"Midget! Maverick! HALT!" Aly yelled, her voice actually commanding. Luckily, the pair listened.
