Really need your help!
As some of you may know (and those who don't, you're about to find out) I am in my final year of university and have to write my dissertation (I think Americans call it a thesis) basically a big bloody long essay. I've decided to do mine on truth and communication on the Internet. Can we trust who we're talking to on the Net when we can't see them? Is it easier to lie on the Net or are people generally truthful? Things along those lines. What I want to do is try set up an online focus group discussing these things and others, using an AIM chat room. Basically I just need people to come along and talk about their experiences communicating on the Internet, whether they've been good or bad. The information gathered will be used for an academic university essay which will only be seen by a handful of people, I will use screen names and will only ask for general information about ages and nationalities. I will not ask for personal information that does not relate to the topic and people can share as much or as little about themselves as they want, it will be strictly for academic purposes. This will be a very important part of my dissertation and I really need people's help, I will be extremely grateful to anyone who can sign up to do this, the more the better. If people need an added incentive I'll write a drabble for any who participate. I'd prefer pairings from Gundam Wing or any incarnations of the X-Men, but if you don't like either of those, give me a pairing and I can give it a shot! I'll put a requests post up after the focus group has been held for all those who took part. I won't be posting the drabbles until probably June at the earliest as I have a sh!tload of other uni work to do, but I will do them, if people don't mind waiting.
If you would like to help me with this please leave a comment saying when would be the best times for you to do this over the next week, preferably in GMT just to make things easier. Pretty much any time is fine for me as it is my Easter break.
I would also really appreciate it if you could pimp this to other people, as many as possible, and try and get them to come along as well. I will be using AIM as I think that is what most people on LJ have.
