Perhaps his doctor knew but your grandpa didn't want to tell anyone or do anything about it? My grandma had lung cancer for two years without telling anyone or getting any treatment. She only told the family when she had to go to the hospital for something else.

*hugs* Medical care in this country can be scary. I just found out my Mom (who has Parkinson's) had a really bad month because the pharmacy gave her the wrong medication. Their response? "At least it wasn't the blood pressure medication."

So sorry to hear about your Grandpa! *more hugs*
