Woohoo! Informed Decision is one of my Keeneland girls. She ran a helluva race against Ventura in the Vinery Madison. Was she the first horse to win from off the pace today? Now let's see if Thorn Song can rebound from his horrible race a couple of weeks ago ( Read more... )

Hah! I had Derby pie for the first time this year, as well as my first mint juelp. I really loved the pie, but I thought I was gonna die when I tried the juelp. It's as if they mixed earwax and Colgate with a crapload of sugar. Hooorrrrriiiiblllle!

The best way to "enjoy" a mint julep is to modify it. Pick up a six pack of Ale-8-One (a Kentucky staple), and pour every bottle into a pot. Boil it for 20 minutes, add 6 shots of bourbon, and let it cool on the counter. Then freeze it. When you're ready to drink it, mix it up in a blender and have at it. It's AWESOME.
