That white stuff is mold on the bonsai. From the best of my knowledge, that means your letting it get too wet.

Yeah that stuff grows fast. I think you might need to dry it out a bit (transfer pots), put it in the sun, and sort of gently scrape the mold off. Though the mold should not be what's killing it. It's just a sign of the evil. (i'm such a dork, I used to be really into gardening/plants when I was young)
