To delete my LJ Account or not... That is the question

Sooo, can't quite decide whether I should just delete my LJ account or not. It's turning out a lot more stressful, time wasting and down right depressing than I thought

Don't delete! I like reading your thoughts! LJ is a good place to get some stuff off your chest.

Recently I have been using mine a bit more thanks to DA. I was going to post a personal anecdote today but got wrapped up in writing a rather longish chapter and haven't the energy.

I used to be so addicted to it. But I do find it useful, especially for keeping up with spoilers and friends.

I'd miss you if you went!

Thanks, but I think I find it a bit too depressing and stressful to stay - I'm far too much of a paranoid, insecure person and all this fandom stuff has been getting me down so much lately. It's stupid I know, but I just can't seem to shake it off.

I haven't decided yet - I'll sleep on it, and the same with tumblr too.

Hmmm, after sleeping on it, I think giving up on tumblr would be a bit too much for me, but I'm going to try and not use it anywhere near as much as I do! It's far too addicting!!

I hope you don't delete it, although it is totally your choice. It shouldn't be causing you stress, that's for sure. Do you mind if I ask what has been getting you down about fandom? No personal attacks or bullying I hope. :-(

Have you considered taking a break for a while and seeing how you feel?

Thanks for your message. I think I'd be here all day if I got into all the reasons why, and most are pretty stupid anyway - but suffice to say, the cumulative effect is very stressful!

I think I will just take a break though, rather than actually delete - as I'd never be able to get all those posts back. I've just got to make sure I don't succumb to temptation and come on here during my break!

I'm sorry to hear that. Fandom should be an escape from stress, not a stressor. I admit I would be sad if you deleted your journal - I really enjoy your thoughts on Thor. Plus I hope to read your Downton Abbey fic once I get around to watching it. :-)

Something that brings the joy for me on LJ is happy shipping comms (for Doctor Who, which is my main fandom. Not sure if you ship the Doctor with anyone, but if you do, there are a comms for more or less any pairing out there). And if you stick to the happy shipping comms you can avoid any nasty ship wars. :-)

Yeah, the happy shipping comms are the safest! All my ships, bar Sif and Loki, are all canon, so that's ok. But the main comms can be pretty scary - even with so many canon ships!

Thinking about it, I'll probably not actually delete, but just not come here very often, as LJ is proving pretty stressful. All my stories are on fanfic anyway - that's usually the first place I post things actually.

And I think I'll stay on at Tumblr - as that's a bit too much "cold turkey", quitting that!

Not decided yet though.
