So, how much caffeine is TOO much?

Six-shot iced mocha on the way to work, three Starbucks doubleshots shortly after arriving (needed to use up the remaining ice cubes in the cup after finishing the mocha, you see), and my standard two cans of Full Throttle (sugar-free, cuz that stuff'll kill ya!) for lunch ( Read more... )

Maybe its a delay reaction thing? I dunno. I get a heck of a lot of caffeine daily, but not THAT much.

And whats in a shally roll? I cant get good sushi anymore now that we are in Denver, but Im always curious.

Shally roll = smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, avocado. silverfist June 21 2007, 14:34:22 UTC
Tasty. We also had what they call a Hurricane, which is deep-fried spicy tuna roll with some sort of sauce on top. Also very groovy -- the crispy outside really worked well with the soft center to create a cool contrast in textures -- but I didn't really care too much for the sauce on the thing.

.

Caffeine normally only stays in the system for about 3.5 hours, so I'm not thinking it was caffeine related at all.

Damn, that's worse than me. I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately (like 4 or 5 cups per day--meanting actual metric cups, not 4 or 5 big coffee mugs or anything =P), but at least it's just regular coffee (and I like mine somewhat weak compared to most people, I think), and not some super-50-shots-of-espresso-from-Starbucks monstrosity =P

50 shots, eh? *plots* silverfist June 21 2007, 14:37:59 UTC
Normally I get a 5-shot mocha, since anything less than that and I don't even feel the caffeine effects. Of course, normally I don't also have the three cans of espresso, either (the two cans of Full Throttle are pretty much a mainstay, although sometimes I change it up a bit with a Sobe Adrenaline or Monster or something, just for a different taste.)

And when I don't stop by the Starbucks on the way to work, I bring in my own brew, since the coffee at work is simply awful. We still have 4-5 pounds of whole bean Kona coffee from our trip...

I don't know the physiology of these things, but personally (having worked many a 4:30 open @ Sbux) I know that it can take a couple days for that stuff to work its way through me (works in reverse with the withdrawal too...not the day of but the day after hurts, sometimes no matter what I drink).

A couple of days? silverfist June 21 2007, 14:41:20 UTC
Odd -- I heard around 4 hours or so for most people... and even then, it would have kept me up the first night as well if it was a long-term effect. But I've got a freakishly high caffeine tolerance -- 5 shots of espresso to give me *any* kind of an effect. Ditto with alcohol; it's been a long time since I've drunk enough to get tipsy.

Interesting.
