[Martel was just passing by toward the Center, being rather careful about the snow, but... What are these odd tracks? They're huge... Tilting her head slightly in bemusement, she follows them. Feel free to spot her coming out of the forest where the chocobo came out a few minutes ago, clearly following the tracks. She hasn't spotted either of you yet.]

[Well she might not have noticed them, but the chocobo definitely has. She veers off from her intended path, and picks her way towards Martel slowly (she's a desert bird--snow isn't exactly her forté).]

Wrrrg.

[You flatfaces all look the same sometimes, all blurred and indistinct, but Martel's crest is the exact color of a forest-bred green's feathers, and she wishes to examine.]

(Nope. I realized this earlier and tried to change it in class, but it wouldn't let me fix it. Then I summarily forgot in the face of all the other tags. ^^;)

[A slight laugh, and she reaches up to stroke the birdy on the cheek. What a pleasant surprise.]

[A long time as a petting chocobo has served this one well--she flicks her crest, leaning in closer to inspect Martel's hair.

[Sephiroth looks up after a moment sensing her presence and nodding politely to her. But it's the chocobo that approaches curiously with a trilling whistle.

Funny flatface sitting in the snow, doesn't she get cold without feathers?]

[Oh, hey there giant birdy

she stands up slowly and reaches a hand out to touch the Chocobo's beak]

[She cocks her head to one side, eying River closely with one impossibly blue eye before flicking the inner lid briefly, and warbling a contented sound. Sephiroth looks up with a wry smile.]

She doesn't particularly strike you as a warbird, does she?

[Kadaj isn't generally one to approach Sephiroth, but curiosity got the best of him when he noticed the tree trunks.

He won't say anything, at first, just watch quietly from afar.]

[Sephiroth feels you over there. With Mother not around, everything other link seems that much uncomfortably clearer. He stands up, leaning on the handle of his shovel.]

[In contrast, the chocobo is busy investigating all of Sephiroth's visitors and Kadaj is no exception. He's got such a pretty crest, just like her rider, but much more manageable. She walks up to him with a curious whistle.]

[Kadaj tenses when Sephiroth moves, but tilts his head towards Sephiroth's project.]

What are you doing? [He gives the chocobo a look of mild curiosity, but other than that ignores her.]

Playing ranch hand.

[He gestures economically at the chocobo, who is still in the business of investigating Kadaj's hair and speaks with a sardonic tone.]

I seem to have been... adopted.

[the chocobo lets out a cheerful Kweh! of agreement]

I stabled her in one of the unused rooms on the first floor, but I don't trust that such an arrangement can last. Best to take it into my own hands now.

[The chocobo makes a startled whistling sound, ruffling up her feathers in surprised agitation.]

Wark!

[Lucky for Selphie, long experience as a petting chocobo keeps her from slashing out with beak or talons, especially once she takes note of Selphie's lacking in weapons.]

[Ana cocks her head and blinks at it, before taking it carefully in her beak.

Then with a happy whistle, she whirls and carries it with pride back to Sephiroth to offer it to delicately to him.

...Which leaves Sephiroth blinking, because he's never felt embarrassed by a chocobo's generosity before...]
